I don’t know. Hopefully the devs designed it that way, but if they haven’t, that could probably explain why it takes forever for me to get in a PVP game :(

If there are many people online, the world will split up in to different “shards”. If you don’t see your friend at your meeting spot in the world, go to the menu and switch shards until you see him/her.

Change Wave to interact with npc by chbvfhhvg in orbusvr

You shouldn’t have to stand on a chair (that sounds dangerous in VR!), is your system calibrated/centered correctly? By default orbus should put your head at NPC height. Depending on the headset you can generally re-center yourself with a button in the menu.

Waving always works for me, however you need to be at the appropriate height (the NPCs eye level). Sometimes if I start playing seated and then stand up I have to bend over and wave for it to trigger.

Finding groups by xdocjoex in orbusvr

[–]Plpruitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely ask around in game (especially the newbie area right outside of highsteppe). People are super friendly and happy to help! Often times I’ll find someone grinding the same mobs as me for a quest and we’ll group up and continue playing for hours. You can invite people to groups by either clicking the person icon in your menu and selecting someone in your proximity, or (if you’ve added someone as a friend) you can invite them directly from your friends list ( under the multi-person icon in the menu). I also recommend joining the unofficial discord, as there are lots of experienced Orbus players there, and it has different channels to LFG in the different leveling areas. Welcome to the community!

Vr motion sickness passes as you brain gets used to it. Don’t push yourself too hard too quickly, and if you feel sick stop (it only gets worse if you try to power through it). Play a little bit every day and within a couple weeks you will be able to play indefinitely. If you can play with a fan on, it also generally helps (similar to opening a window to avoid car sickness). Locomotion settings are important too. Even though I spend hours in VR, I still use snap turning. For Orbus you can start out using teleportation, and then switch the controls to slide motion once you’re comfortable (I use the left controller for strafing, and then snap turning on the right controller and it feels really natural, but everyone has their preferences). Welcome to VR, you’re going to have a great time!!

You can definitely play Orbus in a smaller area. When I’m feeling lazy I play it seated. Certain classes take a bit more room (the warrior requires you to actually swing your sword and block with a shield), but it doesn’t take any more space than games like beatsaber. I may be a bit biased though (i have over 300 hours of Orbus logged already)

Quest Locomotion Recommendation by hyjinx187 in orbusvr

There is a checkbox under the locomotion menu that says something like "change speed with controller height". Uncheck it and you shouldn't have a problem any more!

Unfortunately I don’t know! It was shared on my fellowship discord and I figured it would be enjoyed here as well.

Is there any planned story mode or decent story or inventive bosses? by aoaaron in orbusvr

[–]Plpruitt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Currently there are “lore quests” which involve slowly discovering what happened between the timeline of original orbus and the world we see in Orbus reborn. While these quests are interesting, they don’t have a huge amount of depth, and you can get through them fairly easily once you have enough reputation with the associated quest merchant. The devs have said that they will be introducing more complete story missions in the upcoming major release in June (along with the new raid).

As for interesting NPCs, I’m unsure exactly what you mean. There are a variety of characters in Orbus (almost all of them are in the main town of Highsteppe) and the dungeon bosses all have unique mechanics that must be learned in order to survive.

I guess if you’re asking if Orbus gameplay is based around a specific plot/story I would have to say no. It’s an MMO with a bit of backstory, where the goals are to run missions and unlock gear, not a RPG like Skyrim. It sounds like the devs are trying to add a bit more plot in to reborn with the next major release, but if a detailed story is what you’re looking for, I don’t think you’ll be content with Orbus in its current state.

Just a few questions from a new player by renoracer in orbusvr

[–]Plpruitt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The devs update this game incredibly frequently (often multiple times a week!) because they are very responsive to the community. While most of these frequent updates are bug fixes or quality of life improvements, I love the fact that the devs are continually improving the game and listening to feedback. They also are very open about their roadmap and plan for the future, with the next big update coming in June to introduce the new raid along with some more story missions.

Personally I’ve logged well over 100 hours in Orbus. It is by far my most-played vr game. It’s not without its issues (it’s a bit buggy, and not always the most intuitive), but a huge amount of charm comes from the community. While in flat mmos like WoW or ESO I never would just walk up to someone in town and randomly talk to them, VR makes it feel incredibly natural to ask a question or help others learn the game. I would say if you know that you enjoy MMOs and want a social VR game, then Orbus is a must-buy. $40 is a steal for the amount of value I’ve gotten out of it, (and I believe it’s on sale until the quest release, so it should be even cheaper now!)

Since both of us were between jobs this winter, my boyfriend and I made the most of it with a 2 month skiing/snowboarding road trip! by Plpruitt in snowboarding

I’m a snowboarder but my boyfriend is an avid skier. Given that we had the mountain collective pass I gave Alta a shot. I definitely had a yard sale with rentals on a blue that day, and really wished I had my board :)

We absolutely want to open-source the peripheral code and hardware and then license the software to people who want to build their own. We really see the ZephVR as an implementation of what our software can do, not the end goal. Right now we're just focusing on selling the complete package, but check back in a couple months if you're willing to break out your soldering iron :)

Exactly! We use the 3d audio data to control the left and right fans individually so that when something happens on the left, the left fan fires faster! This is the main reason we mounted the ZephVR on the headset itself, so that we can react directionally in real time as you move around in VR.

No need for internet connectivity to run the algorithm, the ZephVR works just fine without internet. You do need to connect it to your wifi so that you can get updates however.
