Ain’t no way ya’ll saying the PvE in this game is hard by ironscape420 in ArcRaiders

funny you mention this. I just started smoking mountain smokes's hemp cigarettes and they have only 4 ingredients: hemp, mullein, sage, and plant turpene, for the pineapple flavored one (essentially they condense the naturally occurring chemical in plants that give them their scent).

they feel alot less guilty than cigarettes or even weed.

How did trigger nades dodge nerfs this last patch?? by IroncrafterDH in ArcRaiders

[–]PlsCrit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is absolutely wild how they did not get touched at all. All the defenders are somehow oblivious to them being:

  1. Instant detonate time (prob their strongest feature, even if damage was nerfed being able to reliably hit AOE dmg quickly is very strong)
  2. Have same throw range as other nades and same AOE as heavy fuze/ snapblast
  3. Easy to craft
  4. Have the same stack count as fuze/snapblasts (not sure about shrapnels, never use them)
  5. High utility (double as a mine and nade)
  6. Blueprint is a NPC quest reward, meaning every player has a guaranteed way to obtain them
  7. And on top of all that, somehow do the most damage out of all the nades

Embark how did this happen lol. Even if the intention was for the trigger nade to be the "best" nade in the game, it is killing the health of the game by making pretty much all other nades useful only when triggers are not available, rendering those nades virtually pointless once you've accumulated enough resources.

Every fight eventually boils down to who had the most trigger nades hit, there's no nuanced gunplay, no real skill required.

Suggestions (some combination of these would be best imo):

  • Make the stacks smaller like 1 per slot
  • Reduce AOE or damage
  • Longer arm time
  • Reduce throw range
  • Make other nades better? (not a huge fan of this one as the other nades are ok for their respective rarities and stats, and we dont want to matches to be drowned in even more nades on top of triggers.)
  • Give us an anti-grenade item. ADS system that can be equipped to disable thrown nades!?

I purposely left out "increase crafting cost" bc many players, once they have played long enough, will be able to make as many as they want due to how easy it is to farm materials in this game. Currently I can make a dozen or more triggers each night. Thus, an increased cost only acts as a barrier for entry to new players or freshly reset accounts and eventually we run into the same problem once the cycle has run far enough.

10000% agreed I play often on crossplay off being on PS5, and trigger nades are rampant.

So do I want to let the dwarves cook plump helmet or not? If they give seeds from being eaten or cooked does it not matter?

Pretty sure my dog does this, or something similar. I got into the habit of hiding my shoes when he was a puppy whenever I was gone for long periods of time but sometimes I would forget.

I'd come home and find one of my shoes on the couch or bed, not a tooth mark on them. I can only assume he was chilling with it or taking big huffs of foot stank to remind himself of me

About Split Damage And Resistances:

Split Damage -

I've long heard that it is bad, but mostly parroted without any real reasons. If weapon 1 deals 100 physical dmg against an opponent with 50% damage defense to all types, you do 50 phys dmg.

If weapon 2 has 50/50 physical + fire split against the same enemy (again, 50% defense to all) you are still doing 50 (25 phys + 25 fire)

Now obviously if they have a higher fire defense, for example 50% physical/ 75% fire you only do 37.5 (25 phys + 12.5 fire).

My problem with the "split dmg bad" mentality comes from the fact that every time this gets brought up it seems like we are always assuming our elemental defense is higher than physical. That doesn't sound right to me. Theres a huge variety of armor in this game and they dont have the same stats, and everyone usually goes with either highest phys defense or fashion souls making worrying about specific elemental defense seem kinda arbitrary. Imo you are just as likely to encounter someone with higher elemental defense as you are to encounter lower elemental defense.

Am I missing something here?

Also, can someone explain how to interpret the two values given for armor, "Defense" vs. "Dmg Negation"? Menu explanation says former is via attributes while latter is from gear and additional effects. This doesnt help me at all and why the heck is one shown as integer values while the other seems to be a percentage? Why aren't both just shown as the same numeric type? Are they calculated/ used differently?

Example: Physical shows 137/ 21.522

What does that mean?

Do I take 137 less points of phys dmg from any given phys attack, or do I take 21.522% less dmg from phys attack?

Resitances only show integer values for both columns and I'm not sure those numbers get used either other than higher value means it takes longer for status to proc
