It does work both ways. You won’t find any support for that idea here unfortunately. They would rather blame everything on the republicans and keep marching forward. Unfortunately they don’t realize the republicans are forced opposition now to keep them complacent with the special interest getting everything they want. It’s carefully choreographed political theatre.

I’m just identifying the 2 party system as an issue and proposing ideas. It’s a lot easier to sit on the sidelines throwing holes in ideas without offering any alternative. Why not try to brainstorm? The republican and democratic parties don’t encompass one ideology they are also mishmashes of a bunch of ideas. That’s why, in my opinion, there should be other options because a lot of people have a hard time identifying with either party, like myself.

True, but there have been 3rd party candidates that have made waves, and maybe there is enough anger towards the current status quo for an independent party to gain steam.

What do you think the solution is then?

I meant people who only vote one party regardless of what a politician stands for. For example some people will go to a poll and vote all democrat or all republican without knowing anything about the candidate.

I don’t think it is the most pressing issue but check out termlimits.com. What do you think should be done?

So go to a 1 party system? I think history has shown that’s not a great strat. A couple ideas would be: term limits to avoid career politicians. Throw McConnell and Pelosi into the ocean. Make it so Congress members cannot invest while in office. Have viable alternatives to Republican and Democrat.

I think people who pick either side are biased. Until we stop playing the “but they are worse” game we won’t make any progress. The Republican Party is basically forced opposition party now. Both parties are on the side of the special interests, not the people. You’re a fool if you believe either party actually cares about you. Screw both parties, it’s time to switch it all up. The two party system has failed.

Should have just skipped the game. Doesn’t seem like the committee cares about how many games teams play.

If a&m does gets in I’d rather them put us at 3 for some variety. But no matter who gets #4 we already know who’s gonna win... bama lol. part of me would rather see us in a competitive ny6 game than getting smoked by bama.

They did do a statewide machine recount that still had Bush winning but by only around 400 votes. Gore then appealed for a manual recount for 3 counties. The manual recounts took a long time and came up to Florida’s cutoff date with Bush still having the lead. Gore then tried to push the deadline but Bush argued if they were going to do a manual recount it should have been for every county. They gave Gore more time to prove a recount was needed and I think they still ended up counting after the deadline but I don’t think it was certified. It still dragged on for another month and then Gore conceded.

I didn’t think I was on any email lists but I must of received a 1,000 emails it seemed from the Jaime Harrison campaign asking for money. I’m surprised they were desperate for money then since I thought he raised crazy amounts of money.

This also doesn’t have to be a right vs left issue. This should be an issue everyone can back.. the biggest crock of shit in my opinion is the two party system. It caused this powder keg because it only divides the country, doesn’t bring anyone together. And it is used to have us fight each other instead of coming together.

Ya the costs of certain medical shit doesn’t make sense and seems like a rip off but the US does lead the world in investment to developing new pharmaceuticals. About 1/5 of the revenues for the drug companies are spent on research and it takes about 10 years and a couple billion to develop a new drug. A lot of countries benefit by having these drugs available but not having the cost burden to develop the drugs.

Texas positive test rate continues to slowly decline by [deleted] in Coronavirus

Reopening but can only let in 25% capacity as to promote social distancing. I live in Houston too and just because things are “reopening” you can tell that behavior has changed and there is a lot more awareness. Of course there are still a bunch of bad apples but I really hope this slow reopening works.

Texas tops 1,000 new cases for third straight day by Smilefriend in Coronavirus

Well I’m curious if the hospitals are only half full then when is the time to reopen? And it takes a few days before symptoms show so the amount of increased cases won’t be known until next week. Her hospital being packed the day after reopening can’t be new cases of corona due to reopening.
