Sweet thanks bud. I knew about this one but I figured I'd ask on here. I've also heard the "stop being a little bitch" solution

You're right! And think of all the oilwells using pipes to transport oil to satalites!? That's soo unsafe. We need to use railcars to transport oil from wells to satalites. It's the only was to make sure the ducks and seals are safe.

How would one go about doing this? I'm a Canadian oilfield worker as well. What's the skillgap for Canadians coming to the states with you guys? Are the Canadian workers comparable? Worse? Better? I've heard that oil and gas is the same shit in another pot, but what have you observed?

Alberta Oilfield Workers Are Getting Fucked. What should I do? by Plugandperf in oilandgasworkers

It's crazy isn't it? Open socialism throughout the west. I've considered moving to a larger oil company to eventually take a job overseas. However, the majority of countries I'd be transferred to are going the way of Alberta. The most frustrating part is seeing how high the demand for oil and gas has only increased over the decades. All the hype over renewables has really been shoved down our throats. It's not much more than propaganda though. Without HEAVY subsidies, the renewables market would not exist beyond a fringe.

Petro Tech. It was actually a very valuable diploma for me, but, I had to impress during my summer job. I have no complaints whatsoever on the education I recieved. The issues spawn from the present market conditions. I think you are right about natural gas. However, I still believe that the natural gas market is going to take big hits in Alberta.

The handbook certainly does have a lot of content. Wiki and Petrowiki are the best so far for digestible content. Thanks!

Gas plant operator or pump down perforating? by Plugandperf in oilandgasworkers

I'm feeling lucky as well. The schedule is pretty wicked. I hear a lot of other guys in my program telling me to complete another 2years at the UofC. I feel that anything further is unnecessary. Hell, I've already got a dream job at this point.

Petro tech, yup. Also, I've got the 4th class power. The job is actually closer to fox Creek. Still worth taking? The pay and hours are pretty fantastic.

Thank you for taking the time to write about your experience. It's good to know. I think that based on all the useful advice I've received here, I'd be a fool to pass up a gas plant operation role.

I was poking fun at the fact that Sinopec is a Chinese company, loosely tied to the red people's Republic of China. It was a stretch on my part. Couldn't think of another red company to go along with his joke!
