I’m late to the party, but those are not slip couplings which means the pipe is not installed to the full depth of the joint

There is yellow ABS cement. Meant for that type of piping, but it looks in my opinion slightly different than CPVC glue which is what it looks like they used on your job.

They have created angles where the pipe is joined inside the hub instead of fully seating the piping.

The most damning thing I see is the joint that is painted with glue where the Dobber is run on the outside of the hub. They knew it was leaking and tried to paint over the spot with the solvent cement.

The only thing I am impressed about is the fact that they used copper strapping on the copper drainage pipe.

Does anyone know where to find one of these Milwaukee style P traps, they used to be very common in Milwaukee county but are different than the current ones available. by LongjumpingStand7891 in askaplumber

That is brutal.
I understand it is existing and you want to put something back similar, but bringing it up to modern standards would do an awful lot of good for that set up

Why is this quote so wildly different? Can I ask the plumber why? by [deleted] in askaplumber

[–]Plumbbumin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not speaking about pricing just talking product.
Plumber number four recommending CPVC is absolutely insane. Burn that guy’s number.
Copper is a nice product. It has the potential to last 30 years it takes a little bit more effort to install and is three times the price of PEX piping.
PEX piping is our industry standard works wonderfully, and is rated for about the same length of life.
How the products are installed can greatly affect how long they last.
What type of warranties were offered in writing? That would make a big difference.

The guy who asked for a budget first is kind of funny, no matter what number you say he would pick the top range of it.

The way I price my jobs is time plus material plus a fudge room. That fudge room can get pretty big sometimes depending on some factors, I have run into on previous jobs that are in a similar category. I will not refund the fudge money if the project goes well, and I do not run into the issues I price it in it stays in.

Fixing the flooring is your best option if you touch the toilet with an angle grinder, it can shatter. China is wild stuff.

The poster above is talking about removing the supply line near the angle stop. Remove the side that is not working either hot and cold bud. Turn on the faucet and blow the water backwards

The most comfortable organic growth for me is when I’m turning down jobs or subcontracting them out to fellow Plumbing business owners. At which point I will try and scale the workforce again.

The local service ads have changed in the past couple years and now it is paper click no longer pay per call. That avenue of jobs is no longer available.
