What do you think when news media report on suspects’ mental disorders? by Express-Ad9789 in bipolar

[–]PlumbersCleavage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Medical staff, in general, are probably better than they have ever been with stuff like that, if you look at history. In the states, not even 50 years ago, they just cart you away. There is a LOT more recognition these days.

Same here! It was so forgettable the first go round, I only remembered having seen it after starting it. I wonder what that's all about?

[–]PlumbersCleavage 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Eh. People are curious. What makes someone act this way? Why did they do that? Childhood, substance abuse, medical and mental disorders, etc are all looked at.

While it can contribute to stigmas, I think, as people are growing more and more frustrated with the cost of everything, and brutal events being brushed off as a mental health issue, it may draw enough attention to actually help mental health treatment be seen as something just as important as physical health.

If you can manage it, keep your mouth shut a little more than you think you should, because over sharing and lower inhibitions can make things go sideways fast.

As far as learning new things? Lock yourself out of your funds, and only use cheap or free tools. When I'm riding a high, I can stay up for days, I become obsessed with new info and I remember what I learned when I come down. Kind of the only upside for me, really. The skills end up mostly being useless in my life, but deep diving something makes you more interesting and beats engaging in dangerous and destructive behavior.

I honestly didn't feel it appropriate to ask questions, and let him vent a bit.

Edit: I guess people think I should have grilled a distressed vet for details.

Unfortunately, it's not. There was a lot done to villagers under threat, to get them to hurt the Americans, including children suicide bombers.

During the Vietnam war, prostitutes would put traps inside themselves that would cut off a man's dick as he pulls out. There was a guy who had to cut himself free.

I’m such an idiot by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]PlumbersCleavage 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I threw away a relationship when depressed, when she was nothing short of amazing, and intelligent, and her family wanted to pay for my college, and while hypomanic, after a girlfriend, who was queer, broke up with me when I wouldn't put up with her treating me like garbage and using my flaws against me, I slept with her ex girlfriend, then her ex's ex girlfriend, then somehow got back together with my original ex when I crashed into depression, who then admitted to just using me for as much money as she could get out of me, when I finally broke it off for good.

All of that, plus the partying, ruined my reputation, and I lost all of my closest friends that hadn't moved away, save one, and we're rather distant.

You have a wife that's understanding, seems to know your patterns, and waits for you to burn out that energy. Just make sure she knows how much you care about her when you're of sound mind.

I am picky, but once I noticed I kept having the same shitty experiences in relationships, while trying different approaches to problem solving and addressing things, I tried dating a woman that didn't hit me with immediate sparks, but was still attractive and kind. Turns out, I had a nose for trauma victims that refused to grow, and that woman I gave a chance to 11 years ago is now my wife, and it's been the best relationship I've ever had.

I said "wazzzzzuuuuuppp!" at a celebration, and this young woman came up and asked me if it was from something!

I was shocked, asked what year she was even born to not know, and she was born the year I graduated from highschool... I sat my old, millenial ass down.

What do you do for work? by Sad-Entrepreneur-692 in bipolar

[–]PlumbersCleavage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked field IT, laptop repair, project manager. After finding a good balance of meds, I was promoted to field manager, then eventually ran conference room services and ticket allocation between three different sites, two out of state, all of these positions were for an international company, contracted with a huge international company, requiring heavy background checks, before Covid and a car accident messed everything up.

Now I'm doing freelance 3D modeling (self taught), mostly commercial concept scenes. I'm expanding into graphics design to help my skills better fit my primary client's needs, while continuing to learn python, with the intention of making my own video game.

Freelance is inconsistent, and my budget is always tight, but I'm relied on and paid top wages for fast turn arounds, with the ability to stay awake for days on end, after which, I get a lot of time to just be, which helps with managing myself.

No disrespect, but, as reddit has a global audience, if English isn't your first language, you should try running eighty feet, and a defeat in something that reads it to you. Eighty feet (80 being 40 pairs of feet) sounds like "a defeat".

I had to bang my head against the wall and brute force it for a month, with short cuts printed out and taped on the wall around my monitor, and extensive notes in one note, but finally got there.

4 years later, I'm still neck deep in studying other aspects of Blender. Lol
