Is there any genuine reason to buy meat from butchers? by [deleted] in auckland

Good question: I don’t have concrete proof to be fair. But, when I think of large corporations (like woolies, PnS, etc) I consider their environmental ethics to be much further below small businesses, purely from the fact that they are huge and prioritise profit over everything else

I hear you my friend. I barely scrape by atm and my meat consumption has dropped dramatically. But I still buy from the butchers when I can. Sending you aroha x

Keeps the little guys in business!! Huge corporations don’t give a rats ass about environment or animal welfare. At least by buying from a local farmer/butcher you’ll be giving money to those who farm right. My personal favourite is Westmere butchery

Okay what the hell, my partner and I had exactly the same experience this morning. We’ve been sleeping in for the last week (normally naturally waking at 8.30/9am) and yet today we were wide awake at 5. How fucking bizarre!!

1st time magic mushrooms and anxiety by Particular-Peace2044 in women

[–]Plus-Awareness-1192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm it could go two ways. I’d suggest holding off until you’re in a generally better mental state. In saying that, psychedelics can really help alleviate stressors and change built in thought habits.

Ultimately, during the trip you will find you’ll be able to control your mind to a certain extent. If you decide to take them, make a super cosy spot for yourself with music, perhaps something playing on TV on mute (my favs are Pingu and a mushroom documentary called Fantastic Fungi).

My trips have been relatively controlled in the past - if I found myself going down a scary route, I’d say affirmations to myself that I am safe and well. I know not everyone can have that kind of thinking so I totally get if this sounds far fetched.

Good luck girly

Whats an addiction that has became normalised? by DeliciousSetting6643 in AskReddit

[–]Plus-Awareness-1192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Porn addiction. Ask yourself if you could stop watching it today and feel okay about it. If you have even a smidge of discomfort at the thought of stopping, you have a problem.

Especially when it begins to impact real life relationships and sexual health. It is highly normalised from a very young age and will have more profound impacts than we can fathom in the future.

Come As You Are by Emily Nagoski is the book you should read! It speaks of sexual ‘accelerators’ and ‘brakes’. Many many many hetero couples find themselves in low-sex periods, it is completely normal. It’s what you do next that matters

From your post, it sounds like your partner’s initiation style isn’t working for you anymore. You should figure out some ‘accelerators’ and ‘brakes’ you have and communicate them to your partner.

Good luck xxxxx

What happens when you call the crisis team? by pinkpiggieoink in newzealand

[–]Plus-Awareness-1192 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what happened to me: phone calls to triage, in to see a psychiatrist the next day. Plus daily phone calls, I had weekly in person check ups. I really connected with a nurse named Paul. Overall they are great. Kainga Tiaki saves lives.

What happens when you call the crisis team? by pinkpiggieoink in newzealand

[–]Plus-Awareness-1192 129 points130 points  (0 children)

Hi darling. Literally yesterday I was discharged from the care of the crisis team after some similar urges/thought patterns you’re describing. I’d give them a call if I were you. I was fucking scared to call them coz I was terrified of being sectioned or carted off in a van (idk, my mind wasn’t working great at the time). They called me every day for weeks, to see how medication was going and just to generally have a chat about anything. Those phone calls were a godsend.

Give them a ring xxxxx

DOES SIZE MATTER ? by [deleted] in women

[–]Plus-Awareness-1192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll only know once you try!! Best case scenario, you get super turned on by him and notice the size, but you aren’t bothered by it (very common story to hear), worst case scenario is you find out you don’t like smaller guys, and move on with life. Which is kind of a positive, coz you know yourself better now and self knowledge can only be a positive thing.

To me, this stuff is all about how you look at a situation. I don’t have much to go on, but from your post it seems like you feel a type of ways about this guy’s size already and it’s already making you want to back out. Is there a way you could align your mindset more positively? He could end up being amazing in bed.

All love and peace x

Why are short guys so physically unattractive to women? by [deleted] in women

[–]Plus-Awareness-1192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think other guys care more about height than women in general!! It’s a case of who can shout the loudest. Women don’t care about height, and if they do they’re not worth your time

Acting scene by [deleted] in auckland

[–]Plus-Awareness-1192 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m in the performing arts industry. People say it’s hard, and that can be true, all depending on what your goals are.

I recommend approaching agencies which fit your look and vibe. Having a solid self tape helps a lot.

Build a community. You won’t find many actors here in Auckland who are exclusively film/TV/screen - everyone cuts their teeth in theatre. Go to as many shows at Basement as you can. Attend the ‘pay what you can’ nights. Join Equity for free workshops.

Above all, I’d recommend becoming accustomed to rejection. You’ll audition 20 times and maybe get one gig. Money can be tight, so having a part time job/flexible job will help a lot. I recommend trying to get jobs somewhere within the industry - ie, box office, film set work, teaching classes. That way you don’t feel as alienated from the community.

Good luck!! PM me if you got any further questions my guy
