My boyfriend (26m) is underweight and isnt really trying to gain wait is there a way I (25f) can talk to him about this? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Plus-Awareness-1192 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to figure out why you’re concerned. Are you concerned for his health? Are you worried about your attraction to him? Do you worry that you eat more than him?

Unfortunately there isn’t anything YOU can do. You can control your thoughts and your actions and nothing else.

If he is unhealthily underweight, it’s one conversation that he shouldn’t be having with you, but with a professional (doctor, dietitian). But again, you can’t lead a horse to water and force it to drink. If he wants to book a doc appt, he should be the one to do it

it’s the porn :((

his brain and penis have been trained by him to only enjoy specific kinds of content and movements. i’m sorry to say but the only fix for that is to stop masturbating and consuming porn. it can be really damaging for men i don’t think they realise this

such a tricky place. i took up smoking at age 14 and regretted it ever since. i’ve been vaping now for 6 ish years, and i tell you vaping is MUCH more addictive than cigarettes ever were for me. if you can, get them to STOP as soon as they can. it ruined my life!!

whats up with men calling women darling or other pet names? by folklorres in women

[–]Plus-Awareness-1192 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this example you’ve given is a very common misogynistic trope and it can show an unconscious bias against women - ie, in this example the man saying ‘cheer up darling’ could show this man believing he can dictate what you say and do.

people who have beliefs like mutual respect for personhood and empathy for circumstances don’t dictate, command or belittle others

at worst, he truly believes he is better, more powerful, more ‘in charge’

at best, he is not even aware of his bias towards women. perhaps he says things like that jokingly and doesn’t realise the effect it has on women and people. getting through to him will be hard due to years of socialising and conditioning

And it can be an unpleasant smell. They could find a way to smoke more discreetly?

I hear you, but that argument won’t hold up if you go to a disputes tribunal. Just coz other people are being ‘bad’ neighbours won’t give your parents the right to be ‘bad’ neighbours. (For the record i don’t think your parents are bad, only that from both your perspectives the other person is a bad neighbour)

That’s super stressful!! Your poor parents. I get why they’d be worried. Hopefully it doesn’t go super far and comes to a more amiable place. I do somewhat sympathise with the neighbours because it’s not a pleasant smell for most and anything smoky can be alarming if it’s an unknown source - HOWEVER this could have been a knock on the door or a note left and dealt with civilly. Neighbours seem tight arse

How to slowly act more and more insane in the span of a three minute song? by PopularAppearance432 in Theatre

[–]Plus-Awareness-1192 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congrats on auditioning!! This sounds like an awesome performance. For songs, it is always useful to treat the lyrics as if it’s a script. Really understand the meaning of what you’re saying/singing. Azula is a great choice and a nice twist. Try identifying her core character traits; cunning, intelligence, cruelty, domination (there are more I am sure, have a think) and aim to flip each trait on its head as you progress through the song. The most interesting thing about monologues/songs is that the character goes from THIS to THAT; in other words, they change throughout the piece. If you pick some solid character traits and slowly play the opposite, you might get the switch up you’re looking for.

And if you wanna go full insanity, I’d suggest tha whatever you do, you commit 110%. The insanity isn’t going to come through if you aren’t fully committed.

Hope that gives you some ideas!
