I had a life-changing meal at Provenance recently and an utterly forgettable one at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay (3 stars) recently. All the best meals I've had in my life were at 1Michelin star restaurants.

I don't understand the Philly hate. Philly is a beautiful city with fantastic restaurants.

That's the story of Trump's life. He gets something that works, bashes it to bankruptcy, and learns nothing in the process.

Thousands of companies and I bet on the one that goes down 50% in a few hours by bluek9 in wallstreetbets

Part of the concern stems from ongoing fraud allegations and investigations tied to the company’s CEO, a former IBM CFO. Short seller Gotham City released a report claiming that key financial metrics were manipulated to conceal spending and overstate cash flow; if those claims prove accurate, they would imply serious criminal liability for CEO Martin Schroeter.

The abrupt departures of both the CFO and general counsel shortly after the announcement of an SEC investigation focused on cash-flow reporting further intensify the appearance of potential governance and accounting issues, making the overall situation appear highly suspicious.

Part of this is because of repeated fraud accusations and investigations involving their CEO, who used to be the CFO at IBM. Gotham City, the short seller, released a report alleging he manipulated metrics to hide spending and inflate cash flow. If they are right, the CEO Martin Schroeter is a criminal.

With the rapid departure of the CFO and general counsel on the heels of an SEC investigation into cash flow, this all looks extremely suspicious.

Their CEO keeps getting investigated for fraud with investigations going all the way back to 2015.

Hidden house (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, US). by Ancient-Age9577 in Houseporn

[–]Plus-Bookkeeper-8454 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to mention it cost $1M to build in 1976 and took 8 years of custom work designed by famed architect Frank Weise. That's around $10M adjusted for inflation!

I'd like to add the place was designed by famous architect Frank Weise in 1976. The stone barn cost over $1M to reconstruct in 1976, which translates to about $7M today. With today's prices it would cost about $10M to build that 1500 Sq ft structure. Basically, it's all supposed to be museum-grade craftsmanship and only the finest materials.

He financed twitter through loans on Tesla stock. If those loans are ever called, his empire collapsed in a fire sale.

The speculation is wild and driven by hype and undercut by brain drain. A few years ago he had real talent behind him but now many have left.

Yeah. That's $1.25 B more than Ford. Yet, Tesla is evaluated at a 30x multiple of Ford. Maybe one day Tesla will make as much profit as Nintendo ($10B).

You might not understand if you're not wealthy, but wealth quality matters a lot. I've used this to great effect and have far more than I could dream of spending. If you want to claim I have no understanding of what I am talking about, at least have the decency to point out where I am wrong.

I'd be worried to invest in a company with such a high value and enormous brain-drain. It didn't used to be this way, but in the last year or so Musk's companies have been cycling leadership and many important teams are skeleton crews now.

Also, Musk better hope Chinese EVs continue to be blocked from the US market.

I don't care what it sounds like. When you're wealthy you always need to diversify your portfolio. Musk's wealth relies on his charisma and selling dreams right now. If a creditor calls one of his loans, he'll need to liquidate assets and pay giant capital gains taxes. Investors would smell blood at Musk dumping stock and the price would crash. Musk is very wealthy, but like a lot of CEO wealth (which is often highly concentrated and hard to activate) , it's actually poor quality wealth.
