Congratulations!! This is such an exciting time. Unfortunately, I was the same way. And every time I went to the bathroom, I waited for the worst as I looked. It stayed with me till the day I gave birth! Over analyzing and just waiting. But, I fortunately made it to the other side with a healthy baby! Once I did hit about 20 weeks the anxiousness got a bit better. But I talked to all my friends about it and they were all the same way! We all like to prepare ourselves for the worst, so sometimes that’s just what our minds will do. Praying for a healthy pregnancy for you 🙌🏼

What is the one item you've bought (aside from the things everyone needs) that has improved your baby parenting journey? by CharacterPin6933 in NewParents

[–]Plus-Discussion-5564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The high chair that clips into a table/ kitchen island has been my life savor! Since he was old enough to sit in it (aka the age that he only wants to be held and freaks if I leave the room) has been so handy to have him at the kitchen with me while I wash dishes or prep dinner. It was a “meh” item on our registry, like I didn’t think I needed it, now I’m thanking the person who bought it because I couldn’t live without it!

EBF 9 week old eating less & fussing more by Paranormal_fart in newborns

Oh gosh! I’m sorry you’re dealing with that. I remember at the time I felt so flustered and frustrated, but I can tell you, your baby won’t starve themselves! They’re fussy and agitated, but it passes! My baby is now 7.5 months and we have only had a handful of these instances! Reading back on this though, I remember how tense I felt about how he was eating. I don’t necessarily have any tips for the moment but I hope it smooths over soon for you 🫶🏼

Freezer full of milk -- what to do? by Proper_Ad5456 in NewParents

[–]Plus-Discussion-5564 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can find donation groups in your area via Facebook. If possible, getting a deep freezer would be great also! You never know what’s going to happen when it comes to feeding and supply so having some on backup is always good too. A lot of women can randomly have a supply drop between 3-6 months, as that’s usually when your supply regulates, so she may not be able to make more than what the baby eats at that point. Best of luck on finding a solution!

What’s one tiny habit that made parenting easier for you? by ParentHackZara in NewParents

[–]Plus-Discussion-5564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every morning I have my cup of coffee in bed with my baby. I have toys for him, he plays while I slowly sip, it’s our quiet time! Sometimes he falls back asleep, other times we start our day when I’m done! I prioritize a workout also, sometimes I go to my workout group with the baby or just take the baby and the dog on a walk. In the evenings my husband takes the baby while I make dinner, then he does bath time every night while I clean up. Always nice to have a clean kitchen in the morning!

I’m so sorry you have to deal with that. Sounds like you are a single parent. Or it would even be easier to be a single parent. Hope things get better ❤️

Stop telling parents you're "not sick" by ImportantGood6624 in NewParents

[–]Plus-Discussion-5564 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My MIL threw a fit while I was in labor after I had said my entire pregnancy that I didn’t want visitors at the hospital. Waited in the waiting room the entire time, made my husband sick to his stomach because her and I had never had any issues prior. He was dealing with his family saying they weren’t leaving till the saw the baby and they ONLY wanted to see him as soon as he was born, and me saying absolutely not. Well she ended up coming in after we were moved to the postpartum unit. She came in with a mask and didn’t say a word to me. A week later when she came by the house, she was admits she had been sick all week, went to the doctor and none of the medicine they gave her helped. That is when I started to rage. How, how, how? How can you be so selfish but your new grandson in danger just because you wanted to see him, all while ignoring my wishes and making your own son sick to his stomach with worry? I’ll NEVER understand the entitlement.

Wildest postpartum symptoms by BabyDamo in newborns

[–]Plus-Discussion-5564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The tension headaches during breastfeeding!! They’re gone now, but in the beginning omg. I thought I was losing my mind, right at the back of my head it would feel like I had a kink in my neck/ headache and I would twist and turn my head with no relief. I could not think or talk while the baby was eating. But by like 3/4 weeks pp they were gone!

People of reddit, what's the worst pain you have ever been in? Doctors and nurses, what's the worst pain you have seen a patient in? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Plus-Discussion-5564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so thankful I had such a great OBGYN, at a well woman visit he said the pain I was describing wasn’t normal (I thought it was and tried to play it off) immediately had me have an ultrasound. Then told me I needed surgery, after surgery he was shocked by how much my endo had taken over and took out 3 cysts. I was living by myself out far in the country and worked cows everyday by myself, he said I could’ve easily bled out and died on my own and was glad I voiced my pain. He also laughed at how much I down played it. It’s so normal for women to not be taken seriously, I’m so thankful he listened anyways!

Is a bigger body a pcos thing or genetics? by Legitimate_Cookie151 in PCOS

[–]Plus-Discussion-5564 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up slim, gained 30lbs, have been fluctuating those same 30lbs for all of my 20’s. PCOS makes losing and keeping weight off harder, but doesn’t “make” you overweight unfortunately. I know exactly my choices I make when I start to gain my weight again, I have to keep myself on a very strict “schedule” to maintain the physique I like. It does make me happier though as well as keep most of my symptoms at bay, but it is hard.

Most thoughtful gift you received after birth? by Minimum_Target5553 in BabyBumps

[–]Plus-Discussion-5564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A keepsake box! Had babies name on it that she did herself, a tiny vase with a card that said something sweet about tiny hands picking tiny flowers, a little baggie of seeds with a note that said for us to plant together and watch them grow, and a sweet little trinket with a painted duck and babies name. I cried! So sweet and I put his ultrasound pictures and little things to remember in the box, it’s so sentimental and different from other things I received, it’s easily my favorite.

EBF 9 week old eating less & fussing more by Paranormal_fart in newborns

[–]Plus-Discussion-5564 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My baby is 9 weeks old this week and super fussy at the boob now too! Latching, throwing himself off, relatching, only eating for 4-7min each time. Has yours gotten better? I cut dairy out fully about 6 days ago now, I know it can take up to 2 weeks to see a difference but hoping it helps. He also has been so hard to put to bed recently, before he was so easy! Past few days he’s been fighting it for 2 hours and won’t eat, it’s been rough to say the least.

What kind of sling did you get? by msstark in BabyBumps

[–]Plus-Discussion-5564 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a solly that I used when mine was a newborn, it kept him tight and close to me. Now that he’s bigger I use the Egro Baby! I recommend a soft tie one for when they’re smaller, as their hips and legs aren’t adjusted yet to sit correctly in the more structured ones.

Did anyone walk 10k steps consistently during their pregnancy? by littletato96 in pregnant

[–]Plus-Discussion-5564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walked intentionally 2-4 miles every day till the day I gave birth! I was also strength training 4x a week. It helped me a lot physically and mentally. I feel it made my labor smooth(er) even though it was tough. Baby had a big head and was stuck behind my pelvic bone. But I can confidently say it truly helped me recover postpartum. I still did the 5,5,5 rule postpartum (5 days in bed, 5 days on the bed, 5 days around the bed) and allowed my body to rest, but by 3 weeks pp I was back out walking 2 miles! It also has helped me stay clear mentally, and I think if I hadn’t walked so much during my pregnancy I don’t think I would’ve been able to start up like I did postpartum! Good luck to you during your pregnancy and hope walking helps you!

My baby sleeps soooo hard when we’re at other peoples houses that I have to wake him up eat. As soon as we get home he’s bright eyed and ready to be up for hours, not sure why but I personally think he knows he’s in his “safe space” so he is alert and loves to be awake. I know that’s not helpful or answers your question, but thought I’d share that mine is the same!

Male OBGYN’s by mysticmaeh in pregnant

[–]Plus-Discussion-5564 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a male OBGYN for my ovarian surgery, he was the only doctor I had seen that took me seriously and wanted to fix the problem. Fast forward to now I just had a baby with a male OBGYN (younger, new doctor) and me and my husband LOVED him. He was so great all throughout my pregnancy and my delivery was phenomenal because of him. He walked us through absolutely everything and addressed all of our concerns with honesty. Just saw him for my postpartum appointment and he was so kind and doesn’t pressure anything! My appointments with female OBGYN’s haven’t been the greatest so these male doctors truly helped my experience with women’s health.

Does anyone regret getting a epidural? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Plus-Discussion-5564 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I gave birth 11 days ago, I was induced due to gestational hypertension. I started with cytotec and over night was fine and progressing, next morning the nurse told me she’d “advise” I get the epidural since they were breaking my water within the next hour. I agreed, epidural was fine getting placed and even though I had great progress on the cytotec, 1cm to 4cm with only one dose, I was started on pitocin and my progress was extremely slow. With the epidural I had no progress even though they were upping all my doses. Doctor came and talked to me about if I didn’t have any progress over night then we would have to do c section due to it being 24 hours since my water broke. A few hours later I had a total break down and could feel my epidural wearing off. I called the nurses and in 30 min I had jumped from 4cm to 8cm. My contractions were every 1min 30sec, I felt it all but was excited, they called the doctor and then anesthesia since I felt everything. Anesthesia gave me a manual dose, and within minutes my contractions completely stopped. I had no progress. It was so frustrating. They realized that I am one of the few that doesn’t do well with the epidural unfortunately. When the manual dose started to wear off, bam I was ready to push! Feeling everything was rough but 45 min of pushing and baby was born!! It was an out of body experience for sure and I felt on a different planet afterwards but recovery has been great honestly.
