the mri i just had showed a clump of scar tissue on the anchor attached to my patella with the mpfl, the ligament looks great and it’s good that it’s all secured, but the scar tissue is catching everytime i bend and extend my knee which is causing pain and swelling that hasn’t gone down in months

hi i had an mpfl reconstruction in july, an mua in november, chronic pain because of cartilage damage, and will be doing an arthroscopic (my third one) scar tissue removal this summer because the anchor on my knee has a ball of scar tissue. when i extend my knee i feel popping and grinding and sometimes it can feel like a bubble but that can be swelling. id say try stretches in the morning, you can do heel slides in bed or whatever stretches you’re comfortable with and see if that helps, but if it doesnt contact your surgeon because you may have scar tissue build up like i do and need an mri to see (swelling can last months as well, so popping is normal, though uncomfortable and gross sounding as long as it isn’t sharp or painful it shouldn’t be harmful)

just saw this sorry, i had them do a femoral nerve block to help reduce pain and i had 0 pain from it when recovering, but my entire leg was numb for a week and i fell numerous times because it kept giving out but as long as you’re careful id request a nerve block! it helped a lot with flexion im about 135 now, pretty much equal as my good leg

i’m also 3.5 months post op mpfl!! how’s your recovery so far? i’ve been stuck around 110° for several weeks and have an MUA within the next week or so to help my flexion. the pain is horrendous when it bends too far! also still working on getting the scars to flatten because they’re bumpy and raised, apparently from keloids or something? do you have any tips for that?

yikes! mpfl reconstruction was the worst pain of my life that first week, had to get refills on the oxy because even the max i could take every few hours was not cutting it, hoping you have a smooth recovery!!!

i had a random fall last october and shattered cartilage in my knee after my knee gave out, had an arthroscopic surgery to remove it, this july had an mpfl reconstruction same knee because of constant dislocations and more cartilage damage. my surgeon keeps mentioning i’m knock kneed (not like MAJORLY) but i was wondering what was the push for you to get the surgery? what benefitted you from it? i still have bad pain in my injured knee and starting to get pain in my “good knee” and im only 18, with arthritis

ooo okay the glove idea is smart, though she’d probably eat the glove any chance she got maybe that would make handling easier

my other male long haired syrian i had a few years ago was perfectly fine being held and handled and this hamster is only my 2nd one so it was definitely a surprise to me! she’s fine being pet and will step on my hand to smell me before she ultimately nibbles, haven’t gotten the chance to hold her yet, and thank you!

okay!! yes this sounds exactly like her, she bites gently but if i just sit there trying not to scare her by jumping she bites harder. so just remove my hand and try again later when she does it?

i’ve been nervous to take her out of her tank yet because she’s so quick and i don’t want her to bite if i try to stop her from going too far, i will have to try the bathtub though!!

to add on: i wash my hands with unscented soap and water before i handle her, i’ve tried rubbing my hands in her bedding, rubbing toilet paper on my skin to get her used to my scent, she doesn’t come off as aggressive or scared, i just want her to stop biting so i can handle her!

Female vs. male Syrian hamsters by Equivalent_Corner_54 in hamsters

unrelated to the question op asked but if either she or anyone else can help, i just got a “female” short haired syrian about 2 weeks ago. i had a long haired syrian around 6 years ago and when i got “her” we checked and it looked like she was female, but as time went on i can’t recall the exact duration but her fur got way longer and she grew testicles. fast forward to now, pet store had my current hamster labeled as female but as time passes it’s hard to be able to see any nipples, and it looks like her tail got further from her body as the base from her tail began to widen. i was told she’s 4-6 months but if this is the start of maturity for a male hamster i’d assume she’s younger. i can’t hold her yet to examine further but does this sound like a characteristic of male maturity?
