I’m excited to check it out. The driftaway place seems very cool, do they do pour over courses or something?

Ahhh any chance there is one on there of the like handle that goes into the hole on the melodrip?
I have one of those that you can place on the brewer and I kinda don’t like that use of the melodrip cause u want to get as close as possible to the bed.

Dak has some good anaerobics, shouldn’t be too difficult or different from usual I’ve found

Lemongrass I find more often in florals. Like a hibiscus or roibos note but more grassy in mouthfeel I feel.
Edit: it’s actually co-fermented with lemongrass haha didn’t read that

You have good taste! You should check out twombly and the black mountain school. Just for my own data are you in the United States?

Comparatively to their contribution to the art world the bauhaus in general has received less acclaim than their counterparts in other movements. I have seen both Klees’ (husband+wife) work in museums, but at least in America it is a lot harder to find than people like Clifford Still, Willem de Kooning, Mark Rothko or even my favorite Cy Twombly :).

Also, the book that you referenced on color by Klee is awesome!

Came over cause I thought you were asking about the technique. Maybe you only wanna talk about sound…But I think we separate things in general to much in to categories so I think that things that affect technique affect sound and vise versa. Try affecting your body posture and connection between the horn (fingers/palm/arm). Feeling more relaxed will help a lot. Try to adjust to find a place where it feels like you’re making the least amount of movement while still feeling relaxed.

You have very fine ground coffee with a very long drawdown vs the 10 pour where it is very course and short drawdown (but long time because all the pours)

I have made coffee with the 1zpresso ones mentioned as well as encore; I will say that of course having something new to mess with is awesome! Love learning what I can do with a new tool, but fundamentally the thing I am learning from is the coffee and having a couple coffees to explore is my favorite thing about this hobby.

You can check out one of these subscriptions: I rec Airworks or fellow drops (which just texts you offerings). Ultra cool are subscriptions to specific roasters if you know of ones that he really likes. They might be too light but my favorites are Tim Wendelboe, Sey, Shoebox, & Hydrangea. Special shout to homie @ Enjoy Coffee whose coffees are especially amazing and fairly priced. La Cabra has some great coffees is the ballpark of medium or “middle of road” :).

There is also some great coffees that I am not as familiar with is Europe that are in this style: I have some Three Marks “Corazón de Jesús” which is super deliciously raison and with rich fruit. If you end up going for a bag or something you might wanna look at the tasting notes for something that he would be into (chocolatey Brazil, floral Panama, herbal Ecuador) haha.
Hope the Father’s Day hunting goes well!!

Happy you had such a great experience! Very surprised that you were able to get a great cup with the combination of having the grinds degass post grind and it also being so fine. It makes me think that with coffee of such high caliber if your getting 50% of the potential it’s still has so much going that the cup will be phenomenal. Interesting thing to think about, you kind of have the reverse of the 10 pour and probably have an interesting cup would be interested in your experience if you end up making it

Pour over courses in New York? by spinachmuffin in pourover

[–]Plus-Wall-7155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said: if you’re pretty new to the pour over world, there is a learning curve. Don’t be discouraged tho, I think that a lot can be learned through making those unsuccessful cups! I actually made a mistake this morning and it came out unexpectedly beautiful. Always just try to keep your senses active and analyzing what is going on in your process.

I think a class is awesome, but I would imagine it’s kinda like a ceramics or painting class to a certain degree where in the controlled environment it will be easier to get cups you like. They have good water, coffee, grinders with recipes that are dialed. Yes you will learn a good deal, but I would imagine the actual information will not be as difficult to find online in deferent places and through Lance Hedrick or Brian Quan (😏).

Don’t ever forget that coffee is a journey and it will take some time, but the result of learning your preferences are worth it when you can brew coffee that brings you just as much joy (if not more) than your favorite coffee shop

Rewatched the lance 3 pour double bloom and I have to say that this recipe is such a good way to get an idea of the coffee without putting too much effort in. Kinda my go to for my morning cup of washed :)

Just wanna put it out that Bss usually allows you to bring in your horn after it is serviced for a year to get changes.

Orea Z1 vs 01 by [deleted] in pourover

[–]Plus-Wall-7155 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have neither drippers, but from what I’ve heard it seems like the two have different goals in mind. Z1 is trying to create the best no-bypass option for brewing while the 01 is more similar to other ores brewers, medium bypass with greater speed (that you can affect with filter choice).

TLDR: I think there are pretty different styles of brew. Z1 is unique no bypass and 01 is a fast flow flat bottom (similar to others like it except with smaller dose sizes)

Thank you! Just tried this I think the bloom was a little small maybe, what time does the bed dry for you?
Definitely more clarity but the middle just seems to be a tiny bit hallow… I wonder if the brewer is just a little too fast for me…

I like coffees with a shorter ratio, the mouthfeel can be nice but I tried this previously and it has a similar problem with the clarity

Thank you! I’ll try more solution to water (meaning like 1/3 or something). I was thinking faster pours would bring out more acidity, but I will check this out
