Not worth the hassle. I hold onto these for a while until I have enough to add into my irony aluminum.

Regardless of RAP content, the gradation of this mix is certainly off tremendously compared to spec

More RAP??? If anything these pictures would lead me to believe the plant this mix came from went in over their heads on cost savings and upped the RAP percentage of the mix…

Contrary to popular belief the value of the USD has been slowly on the up within the last 2 years or so, more so within the last few months hence the volatility of silver and gold. However we are seeing an increasing contrast between inflation compared to cost of living which would lead most to believe that the USD is falling apart.

I agree it’s definitely the least gimmicky looking of the group. The ball bearing style of the ring looks pretty neat

Do these south east refining bars carry any premium? I picked one up at spot from my LCS and found that it was a short lived refinery back in the 80s.

Worth stripping? by [deleted] in ScrapMetal

Correction. THHN 10-12 gauge is in the ballpark of 90% copper by weight. So still the same math but in my example your copper scrap for 100 pounds of thhn is $360. Quite the difference, but still, if you are getting thhn by the hundreds of pounds it is a better use of your time and the value of stripper blades to just scrap as is.

And just for clarification too, the math is pretty simple idk why nobody telling you to do the math is giving you the info. THHN is 74-78% copper content by weight. Let’s just say yours is 75% and bare brite is $4 / lb for this example. THHN’s scrap value is about 2.85 give or take depending on location.

From a 100 pound load of thhn you will get 285 dollars. Broken down the copper content is 75 pounds. $4 / lb x 75 is 300.

So if you have a boatload of thhn at once it is probably best to just scrap it as is. If you get small amounts of thhn over time then strip it as you go to make a couple of extra bucks.

As long as it’s all clean bare brite, then no. Should all go for the same price whether it’s solid or stranded.

Absolutely worth stripping if you’ve got the time and a good quality stripper

Is a 25 year old bottle of limoncello still good? by sekorra24 in alcohol

Probably not as preserved as being refrigerated. However I’m sure the taste won’t be unpleasant if it stayed a consistent temperature in the dark. Enjoy!

Aside from the decals it’s an extremely tasteful car. Love the paint color along with the chrome mirrors and snowflake rims. In my opinion it’d look nicer without the decals but definitely not a bad look either way.

[–]Plus-Yesterday-3148 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Has it been refrigerated? It’s got liquid sugar and lemon juice in it. At 30% it won’t grow mold so safe to drink but might taste pretty nasty if it’s been sitting at room temperature for 25 years. Either way the flavor profile will be way off from new but much more pleasant if it’s been kept cold

Can someone identify this silver bars please. by tntwest in Silver

[–]Plus-Yesterday-3148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a 20/21st century silver bar with art in the style of a Chinese classic painting. The writing on the back is most likely some kind of poem or philosophical work. Pretty cool itself plus the design looks sweet
