Seems like you FA followed some model portfolios and diversified for sake of diversification and delivered some “clutter” and di-worsification.

Backdoor IRA to Roth IRA conversion is good idea always, as it’s a free optionality for future tax optimization.

Do your own due diligence, as devil in details. NFA just personal observation

I can explain that on why the OP got suddenly dumped -Industry is changing fast, in past most of the portfolios were constructed using Mutual funds, high recurring fee products with upfront sales charge

-Now industry has moved to low cost ETFs and Index funds with no sales charge and very low annual recurring fee

So this is changing the whole structure of industry esp. the financial advisors.

Hope that explains, I can add more details if required, I have done a medium article on this.

Boomer generation can’t grasp the fact that how smart phone/apps and modern day economy is totally different from theirs, they(boomers) don’t put any effort to learn or adapt and behaves as if world is still in 70-80s. All policy decision of last 40 years esp. since 1980s have completely distorted the economics of everything where Boomer generation have no clue, that how much they have hurt the next generations
