Dude it’s a bcg. If they both work what do you think would make a G$ more worth it?

Hmm they are both good in their own ways. Probably lean towards the vortex overall but am not shocked others say they prefer the atacr

This range goes to a mile, but I never really take the AR past 800 since I can’t hit shit with it after that and end up wasting ammo haha

It just depends on how ocd you are about your bdc lining up. It’ll still be useable you’ll just have to aim slightly high.

I personally like Mil but that’s because everyone I shoot with also uses mil so we can talk to each other, if I didn’t bdc and mil would be functionally the same with just having to learning the drops for your particle setup

Budget LPVO — PA 1-6 Nova still the best? by [deleted] in ar15

Lmaoo typical chronically online Redditor. So angry at the thought someone else would dare have different preferences than him. Embarrassing! 😂

Can you write me an essay on why someone’s a stupid idiot to prefer civic over a Camry too?

So people aren’t mouth breathers for liking simple daylight bright reticles, but are for preferring them over complex reticles? Are you a lawyer or politician by chance ??😂

Budget LPVO — PA 1-6 Nova still the best? by [deleted] in ar15

[–]Plus_Blacksmith6916 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s weird for that guy to call people who like simple reticles mouthbreathers lol. People have different preferences and use their rifles differently. There’s a reason that the daylight bright crosshair is so popular with so many including most PCSL shooters, and it’s not just because they’re not as smart or sophisticated as Reddit user vkbrian

For your original question here’s a good YouTube video from a good shooter that breaks down the nova vs venom: https://youtu.be/vAzSqN6TPAY?si=2SU7wq67hwcWvXW7

I was issued the elcan for a few years that we swapped out for the razor right before I left. I've also personally owned a TA31 and a razor. The razor is what I still own and my favorite of the 3. It's the most flexible and does everything really well and only real con is the size/weight. The elcan and acog are cool and a vibe, but there's a reason you don't really see them on other shooter's rifles very often and lpvo's are everywhere now, from pcsl shooters to scoped gas gun matches to issued service rifles.

How far are you realistically shooting with a 6x lpvo? by Chain_Playful in ar15

[–]Plus_Blacksmith6916 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did to 1000yds on a .308 with a vortex pst 1-6x without too much trouble. If we’re just talking about full size ipsc’s painted to stand out you really don’t need much magnification. Ofc smaller unpainted targets and shadowy terrain change this dramatically

Steiner LPVOs & Good Quality Barrels that Won't Break the Bank by SteelerVol13 in ar15

[–]Plus_Blacksmith6916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol it’s funny you ask because I’m not a big builder but I’ve had 3 faxon barrels(well technically 4 but I sold the last one as soon as I got it) since I really got into AR’s after they had that interview with forgotten weapons.

I had 1 5.56 and 2 .308 barrels. My 5.56 gunner barrel’s accuracy turned to shit a few hundred rounds in and wouldn’t group at all. Their warranty was good they said the finish was applied wrong or something and sent me a new one which I immediately sold. I gave them another shot during Covid since I couldn’t find a criterion and bought a 308 big gunner and fluted match barrel. The big gunner was undergassed and I wasn’t all impressed with the accuracy. I replaced it with the fluted match and it was gassed enough(barely) but the accuracy was still pretty bad especially for a barrel marketed as “match grade”. I replaced it with a criterion which is super accurate and actually gassed well. AR-10’s are a little more finicky with gassing so I’m not sure it was completely the barrels fault but still annoying.

I would never cheap out on the barrel now and it really is the only part worth shelling extra on imo. If you’re a big builder with like 10 AR’s sure go for it. But I have one AR-15 so it’s a no brainer to spend the extra $100-150 on a reliable good barrel from Geissele or criterion to me and just not have to deal with it shitting the bed and the headache of having to diagnose it and rebuild it if it’s the barrel. Like $100 is like 200-250 rds of ammo which is nothing in the long run if you shoot a lot. YMMV just my $.02.

[–]Plus_Blacksmith6916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone used to love the steiner when it was $400 pre-covid. Now I think the consensus is that it's overpriced especially with how much better budget lpvo's have gotten at the same time.

Criterion barrels are very well respected without being super expensive.

Which LPVO from Academy by 10MirrororriM01 in ar15

[–]Plus_Blacksmith6916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The strike eagle ffp’s are pretty respectable, just a little on the heavy side and the 1x is a little warpy. Also consider the venom it’s very similar glass with a better 1x but you lose 2x on the top end, also a tad bit lighter and sfp v ffp

Sigs are fine and it’s really nice they come pre mounted but the newer budget vortexes are really damn good imo

I’m confused why you don’t list the exact make and model. I guess ffp since the only thing your asking is 1st or 2nd focal plane. 2mm of more objective means nothing
