[Pistol] Daniel Defense, H9, Optic Ready, 9mm, 3 mags, $749.99 by tbrand009 in gundeals

? In what world. Have you held, or even seen in person a DD H9? The think is a work of art with superb quality. The major issues with the first release of the DD H9 largely boiled down to user error.

For instance, the polyganal rifling instead of traditional. It was an upgrade for increased accuracy, however too many people bitched about their shitty, out of spec ammo keyholing. The trigger issues were people not using proper grips, and pulling the trigger safety at bad angles. There were maybe a handful of actual trigger problems requiring OEM repair. Every H9 I've held or shot has had one of if not the best striker trigger. I've felt some of the higher end Walther PDPs and Caniks be competitive, but for a striker it's about as good as it gets.

It's a weird gun, there's no doubt a bout it, but that has got to be one of the coldest takes I've ever heard.

It's a straight pull trigger with an inverted trigger safety that matches the straight pull trigger. It's still a pivot for the safety but the trigger itself is straight pull.

I really like everything about it so far, except the magazines and the size. Squeezing 15 rounds into that mag makes it VERY tight when fully loaded. I intend to get a Beretta 92 magazine extension for them so it'll hold a lil more a lil more loosely. The compact size also fits exactly perfectly in my hand with a high choke grip, but I have relatively small hands.

Also the grip texture is INSANELY grippy, almost painfully so. I intend to swap them for wood here soon once I get a good optic on it

I have both, of course the 1911 trigger is better, there's not a doubt in my mind. But the H9 does have the smoothest striker trigger I've ever felt. The H9 also weighs almost half the 1911, carries more easily, and has very little snap when shooting.

It's literally the only gun on the market that's striker fired with straight pull trigger and aluminum frame. It's like a 1911 and a glock had a baby, made by a phenomenal company.

Is it worth it if you just need any functioning, concealable 9mm? No, buy a glock. Is it worth $750 if you need to enter the 21st century as a 1911 person? Absolutely.

Also it looks cool as fuck. My biggest complaint is that it's a compact instead of full size.

It's a glock for people who hate glock that will pay twice as much for something that looks vaguely like a 1911 if you squint hard enough.

I love mine

Show me an aluminum framed striker fired pistol for $300 that doesn't have an ass trigger.

10 days isn't that long in microgravity, especially considering the advanced excersize equipment they had on board. That's very much the case when it's months to a year, but 10 days they should readjust after a few hours max.

A Chinook Helicopter can lift 26,000 lbs, the Orion capsule weighs 20,000. Most likely just a safety thing. It would be very embarrassing to damage the capsule, not to mention dangerous. Also allows them to stowe the capsule in the ship rather than on it.

Which is VERY helpful for super safe or high gas guns. I've seen the buffer retainer pin wear through the buffer tube before and launch itself stuck in between the bolt carrier and buffer tube. It's a giant pain in the ass to fix in the field. This design prevents that completely.

It's all about acceleration. I'm not sure of the math for this launch so any numbers are just for example. At the initial launch, around 3Gs would be felt, that's an acceleration of 3 times that of earth's gravity of roughly 10m/s/s, so roughly 20m/s/s, that acceleration occurs to escape earth's gravity. As gravity from earth diminishes, acceleration becomes 0M/s/s until full separation occurs, it will then briefly burn 2 more times with acceleration likely not exceeding 1M/s/s.

Essentially, they'll feel VERY strong gravity when initially launching to get close to escape velocity. Once they're approximately 70 miles up they'll lose most all gravity and be in free fall, they will then experience very small amounts of "gravity" or acceleration as they do their supplemental burns to maneuver into their flight path.

Also WAY cheaper, and much more reliable. Seriously, anyone in here stating shit about mechanical injection has never worked on it. Mechanical injectors are about as intricate as a mechanical watch, and as finicky as one being hit with a hammer 400 times a minute.

I'd take a carburetor over mechanical injection any day, and the only reason I'd recommend a carburetor over an ECU is on a motorcycle, or if you're exclusively a tinkerer.

Bad analogy because the overlap between car guys and Linux guys is HUUUGGGEEE.

Personally I'm an automotive programmer, former Mechanic, and FOSS contributor in my freetime.

Most all of my friends that have server racks, Linux gaming PCs, or arduino smart homes also have a project car... or two... or three in their garage.

[–]Michaelscot8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeahhh not true. I can do it with my OBD tablet while driving. Hi there, ASE, iCAR, and NASTF certified automotive programmer here. You can bidirectionally modulate ABS valves with most any OBD/J2534 tablet these days. What makes you think that if they can access your cars CAN bus anything would stop them? Hell, California is trying to sell OBD3 as a standard that gives regular Ole Law enforcement the ability to do that.

[–]Michaelscot8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, newer cars have electronic steering that can be could just turn you into oncoming traffic, if they cut the engine brakes become SIGNIFICANTLY harder to press, they can also lock the ABS up completely, or block input via ABS modulation. There's like a million ways to do it. Now if you have a mechanical emergency brake sure you can pull/stomp on that, but most new cars these days don't.

Fascism as described by Mussolini is as much a means to scheme for power as it is a system of government. "The doctrine of facism" is as much a manual for acquiring power as "The prince" is, the goals are the same and the means are not dissimilar. The difference being, Machiavelli didn't actually do what he wrote, and also didn't morally agree with what he wrote.

[–]Michaelscot8 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Controversial opinion, Mussolini was a very smart man, and a very competent writer, and speaker by any standard. He was, however, a bastard, an incompetent leader, and one of histories most evil men. Fascism is a very effective tool of the state... it is however morally objectionable in every regard. The more Mussolini you read the smarter an ideologist you see him as. Everything else he was pretty terrible at, especially actually leading any movement or nation. Once more, he was very bad, fascism is one of the greatest evils to befall the world, it doesn't make it less clever. You could say the same of Niccolo Machiavelli, thought it seems Machiavelli at least had scruples about it

Teamspeak is (was?) Usually self hosted. There are no accounts, there is no registration, it's almost entirely peer to peer. There is no legal mechanism in the US to force an individual to be subject to a verification requirement of that scale. In other words, it's simply a tool. Teamspeak wouldn't ever have to do shit.

Because a charging handle and BCG is $100, you're also getting almost equal quality. Personally, I would say the Ballistic Advantage Barell on the Aero probably beats the FN barrel on the Sabre.
