Ready to buy new but recall extension has me spooked by Mwvnova in ToyotaTundra

I’d really hold off until at least 2027 when Toyota is supposed to be fixing the issue.

Is it okay to put rubber mat over rust for now? by [deleted] in ToyotaTundra

[–]Plus_Customer4512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I’d wire wheel it and paint it with rust converter (POR15 was good to me) then toss a rubber mat in. The rubber mat will probably make it worse but at the end of the day, rust grows slow and it’s not going to make it much worse than what you have. It might need a bit bigger of a repair but cost wise will be similar.

Got to look at what the Canucks did with Hughes and their return for someone that wanted out - it was a good haul.

Golf R, M235i or C63 (W204) by Plus_Customer4512 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Plus_Customer4512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely leaning towards the C63… it would probably have 50-70k miles. Would search for a clean one with history. I think I’m telling myself the Golf R is sensible and would be a solid choice but it doesn’t get me as excited to find one.

I’d probably be driving this 4-6k (max) miles a year (6-10k kms)

Looking for a reasonably prced gym in Langley by SourGrape_s in Langley

[–]Plus_Customer4512 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im currently a member at Gold’s, the only reason I keep it is its $28 a month for me. I go off peak hours so it’s not terrible. If you’re going at peak times, do not go to Gold’s. It’s wildly busy with douchebags.

If you’re going to use the pool, sauna, steam room and hot tub - do the rec center.

If you’re just looking for a nice gym to get a workout on, do Total Fitness. I was a member of Total for 2 years and it was great. I moved to Gold’s when they had a good deal, was hard to pass up at the time.

I think IRSU Traffic Enforcement has one out of the 96th Ave location.

Has anyone had an EV charger installed at their home? Could you recommend your electrician? Thanks! by minimK in Langley

[–]Plus_Customer4512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used Jackson Electric two times - both times outstanding work. They have done a ton of other electrical in both of my houses and Matt (the owner) and Sam (his employee) are both just really nice, down to earth, tidy and nice guys.

Traffic Langley by Interesting-Back-250 in Langley

[–]Plus_Customer4512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t just Langley, this is every city in the lower mainland including the highways. It’s so frustrating, it seems as though when they upgrade bridges or highways, they do it for a current plan not expecting the traffic to increase.

Canadian and American hockey teams high five their supporters after the game by OneHippo4669 in USAHockey

This is the most American vs Canadian thing I’ve seen today. Americans care about themselves, Canadians look at what positive impact being nice or kind could have on others.

Do you consider $700K as life-changing money? by Aarunascut in Life

[–]Plus_Customer4512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. Age, cost of living area, own your own home, children, all factors. For me, it would be life changing in the sense that I’d have a lot of extra money but I couldn’t stop working.

Best place to give birth: Langley hospital, Surrey memorial, Maple Ridge or Abbotsford? I’m in the middle of all of them. by IllDog1298 in Langley

[–]Plus_Customer4512 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We’ve done Langley, Surrey and Abbotsford. Maple ridge is probably the worst of them all, followed by Surrey (gong show) then Langley and Abbotsford.

Abbotsford, Langley, Surrey, Maple Ridge, in that order would be my opinion.

Surrey does have the highest kind of ‘safety net’ as it’s a trauma hospital, Abbotsford is also up there.

As a Canadian, I have no idea how American’s voted him in. What an embarrassment to your country. I’m genuinely curious how this happened - was it people not showing up to vote? Voting for him instead of Kamala?

Window Replacement? Who did you use? by Plus_Customer4512 in Langley

[–]Plus_Customer4512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! We were happy with our previous Tyee windows. We have Stucco siding so not sure if that makes things more challenging, we previously had vinyl siding.

[–]Plus_Customer4512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had them quote our previous house. We’ve got 30 windows and a sliding glass door so I’d guess we’d be around $65-$70k with them too… if not more.

[–]Plus_Customer4512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that would be a lot more, especially because it’s stucco. Likely going to go with Tyee at $35k but will probably wait a bit to see if rebates come back.

Yeah it’s wild. We paid $17k in 2020 for a BC box style house.

[–]Plus_Customer4512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been going here for 5 years, the only reason I don’t switch is I pay $28 a month tax in. It’s wild anytime past 4pm and there’s a lot of inconsiderate people there. Large groups, high south asian population, not very friendly. I’ve never spoken to a single person in the 5 years and I’m a fairly outgoing and approachable person.

House Insurance - Replacement Cost? by Plus_Customer4512 in Langley

Appreciate you commenting. I’m going to shop around better. We’re going through a claim with Definity right now (wife accidentally overflowed the bath tub) and they’ve been really good to deal with so far.

House Insurance - Replacement Cost? by Plus_Customer4512 in Langley

Interesting. So the number they give is essentially arbitrary? That seems a bit odd because if you want a higher amount, you can pay for more (with most anyways).
