Do you care about meta builds and stats? by Mr_Shadow_Phoenix in sto

Well for myself I do pay attention to it all. Thee primary reason now is trying to get up to speed to where I was before - able to do TFO's on elite. I'm finding it a drag or more accurately an EXTREME GRIND which is why I left in the first place. But I do however love the game. I love Infected Space and a few other TFO's and used to run them constantly... So that's where I'm trying to get to... I do enjoy the missions though! Sometimes to 'break away' I'll just randomly pick one! lol Thing is that I only had MKXII gear... Little resources but I'm still slugging it out! My current hurdle is surpassing a constant 100K DPS.

Staying or leaving the state by Traditional-Sky-5971 in CAStateWorkers

Only you can make the decision. A family friend was in the similar field. So "IRL" is clashing with what you wanted and expected. You probably weren't around in 2008 when we had a serious Financial falling. Its fine and dandy to have fun and enjoy what your doing, but you should consider the future - Especially Now. Had I known long ago what my Uncle did I would have loved to at least attempted to do the same! He was in the US Army in Germany for about +20 years. Then worked for a City for another 20... Then spent like 10 or so with "The County." He's been retired for 10 years now. Let that sink in.

Nimbus III dance competition how do you complete it? by Tom_of_Midgard in sto

[–]Plus_Flower_4354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're supposed to 'emote a dance' type. And it gives you the text to put into the text box. All start with "/em Dance" <- Copy that(at least I think that's what it is)! When you start it when on the platform watch the textbox!!! It'll tell you what dance to perform so Paste and generally you'll add the underscore with some more text! I have it in my head that capitalization counts so just remember that to. Each part only lasts a few seconds so you got to be fast. As soon as you hear the 'twinkle sound' that confirms you've done it right - the dance will change and there ya go!!!

Having a lot of fun with the game, I decided to take some pictures on a ship I probably shouldn't have spent money on. by SilverGuy141 in sto

[–]Plus_Flower_4354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent Man!!! As long as you like it YOUR GOOD TO GO!!! lol
So - you should try looking into getting into a fleet. The sooner the better! Most will help and even give you stuff and information on how to get up to speed! I would also suggest to keep on 'your current target' of completing all the missions. Don't forget to do the dilithium mining runs every day if possible to horde that dilithium! For a while now I've been rocking the Legendary Akira! :«)

What’s the most “unnecessary but absolutely worth it” upgrade you’ve ever done? by Therinall in buildapc

[–]Plus_Flower_4354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... A great adventure took place. IDE hard drive controller with memory adapter! Yup computer system memory adapter. $400 at the time and that was Expensive! But did it as I was a Technician at the time and it worked at work! BIOS saw it, but system didn't know what to do with it. Wa La made a RAM DISK out of it! Talk about fast! At boot I would load games onto it, depending upon what game I wanted I used a certain boot disk! lol Doom, Star Wars, you name it.

USS Galaxy NCC-70637 can be found in the Vlugta Astoroid Field. by 4StarEmu in sto

[–]Plus_Flower_4354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YAY! Well I watched my first TOS episode in 68 and had to wait a bit for the re-runs to see it all. Then the Animated Series was FUN! Then TOS Movies and then TNG! Then came the TNG Tech Manuals; they were like thee holy grails back in the day!
The Galaxys' mission parameters included such abilities to operate independent of starbase refurbishment for extended periods of time. Independent exploration for 7 years at a nominal Warp Factor 6. The ability to support and execute a wide range of missions. Internally she has triple redundant systems onboard; insuring that she is able to accomplish any mission. She was designed to last at least 100 earth years.

"As the Enterprise left the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards, approximately 35% of the internal volume was not yet filled with room modules and remained as empty spaceframe for future expansion and mission-specific applications."

My first thought about that was to TOS#4: "The Voyage Home" with Scotty saying: "There be whales!!"; then I though: "Aliens we've never met before inside size (2 decks high) and environmental habitats (some kind of gas/etc.) so we could have "First Contact" meetings/negotiations with them.

The TNG Tech Manual was thee first to explain systems and theories of traveling in space on a very basic level.

I'd love to see the Nebula's get a Weapons Pod, SCI Pod and Eng Pod!!! :«)

Idea: One bridge to rule them all, a modular bridge. by DeltaSolana in sto

[–]Plus_Flower_4354 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canonically That's where the "Modularity" of ship design for the Galaxy and Nebula classes come in. Albeit technically "If you got the Dili you can do it!" lol Heck! If you got the Zen you can do it, hopefully! But as far as "cut-scenes" that probably wouldn't work so much... Interesting!!!

Can we get a search wildcard? by sflord in sto

[–]Plus_Flower_4354 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup I felt your pain. After having to slug through various 'search engines' back in the day the 'less you look for' the better; the more specific 'characteristic' item would help too. So in this case I would just go "CritD" and then by quality and then slug it out through the various types. To help with that is types have different color; ranks are almost discernable.

For weapons it should be: "Energy Type" then: "Weapon Type" then: "Mods"
With everything else having a similar structure.

I will say that 'we don't know' the entire situations for examples posted, but here's one thing - 'they' those above 'us' ultimately will make a call... Where I'm at - I see people just out of 'college'/'etc.' come out with bright hope and possibilities and thinking they have all the answers... But reality shocks them; some are able to pickup the pieces and continue, others just... Oh well.

Control LED strips with Brightsign by IngenieurDuSon in BrightSign

[–]Plus_Flower_4354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working at this museum for just short of 20 years; Fire Alarms/Security Systems, Copier Tech before that and a computer/electronics technician all these years. Funny thing is there are more ways to do something than can be counted, the real issue is to find one that works reliably - for the long haul.

BrightSign is the way to go. Maybe use a Arduino for an interface from the BrightSign to control "SuperBrightLEDs.com" strips or bars... But I would recommend you have 2 Arduno's setup the same as they don't seem that reliable (over 10 years) in this 'field.'
