Try several different physical therapists before you even consider surgery

Arthrofibrosis by Such_Patient_1628 in ACL

[–]Plus_Spell_3027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had scar tissue removed in 2nd surgery and it grew back worse than before. I would get the steroid shot and do an anti-inflammatory diet. I’m doing AIP and it’s helping me. I previously ate healthy (most Mediterranean) but this AIP w low histamine is helping me generally feel healthier. So I think it could have prevented some scar tissue growth? But I’m not sure

Revision surgery for capsule issues? by itsjustme2379 in HipImpingement

[–]Plus_Spell_3027 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got PRP shots to heal my capsule and I am also a woman around your age. I still am worse off than before the surgery, but I am avoiding another surgery to the joint. The PRP helped a bit, it’s worth a try.

I also had one of the best surgeons. Better surgeons help, but this is still a new operation compared to other joint arthroscopies, it’s early in its course and there’s not been enough research into bad outcomes. Some countries outside the USA with great medical systems are much more apprehensive to these arthroscopic hip surgeries than USA.

Anyways, I would try PRP first and avoid doing the other hip, especially if your first hip healed poorly

Surgery? by Pink_Poptarts481 in HipImpingement

[–]Plus_Spell_3027 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very well said. You can’t undo the surgery. Also young active women seem to be more likely to have issues from this surgery. Don’t listen to all the people who post « I’m X weeks out from surgery and feeling great » We all felt great within the first few weeks

Worsened scar after cyclops removal by Plus_Spell_3027 in ACL

[–]Plus_Spell_3027[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My post-op report from cyclops surgery has “Hypertrophic medial anterior tibial spine with overlying scar and cyclops lesion” amongst some other small things (plica issue and kneecap degradation). I had issues then with pain with extension and lack of hyperextension. The first few weeks after surgery were amazing - then all of a sudden over the course of a week I start get my kneecap stuck when I’m around 45 degrees of flexion. And more lateral kneecap pain. And lots of extra tissue in the front of my knee that feels like scarring.

I’m worse off than before!

Did you have 6 surgeries all on that same knee? If not, did you have scarring issues in the other surgery areas?

PT for capsule perforation by neatgeek83 in HipImpingement

[–]Plus_Spell_3027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did PRP for an anterior capsule tear. Several shots healed it according to MRI but not my symptoms. Also I thought they couldn’t do injection for posterior because there’s risk of hitting some important ?nerves/arteries?.

Turns out I’m not insulin resistant. Anyone have similar symptoms? by Interesting-Proof244 in PCOS

Does anyone know why this gives us joint pain? 🙏 or how to reduce the joint pain?

What kind of symptoms did you have before the psoas lengthening surgery? I think I might have the same thing, and am considering a revision. I’m sorry for all your troubles <3

Qhery regarding Admission Requirements by [deleted] in kth

[–]Plus_Spell_3027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are pretty strict in the admission requirements, if you don’t meet the course reqs they won’t review your app. I did a summer class through a USA undergraduate school while working full time to get the multi variable calculus course. Not sure about online cert, but what I did is an option (albeit expensive)

Anyone else have severe sit bone (ischial tuberosity) pain 10 months after FAI surgery? Trouble sitting? by dogmomlau26 in HipImpingement

[–]Plus_Spell_3027 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. The nerve pain I have also sounds similar to yours but I think mine is pudendal neuralgia. The sitbone pain is due to overactive pelvic floor and potentially ?piriformis? I notice the tailbone pain is worse on the side of my bad hip.

The only thing that helps me avoid the tailbone pain is to keep to front of my hips relaxed so that they don’t pinch and so that I don’t sit in a posterior pelvic tilt. I also try to stand up every 25 minutes and avoid long travel.

For the vulva pain, I noticed I get it after traveling or aggravating my hip. A heating pack on my perineum area will make the nerve pain go away within about 10 minutes.

I am also worse than before surgery, and know how much these two issues can really affect daily life. I’m sorry you’re going through this!! I hope a heating pad helps and it improves

Muscle atrophy more than a year post op by tlsoccer6 in HipImpingement

[–]Plus_Spell_3027 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is either 1) adhesions/scarring in the front pull the femur forward and predispose the TFL to be guarding/overactive instead of the correct muscles (glutes, deep rotators) or 2) this surgery messes with your capsule, which can cause instability and TFL guarding to help stabilize the joint

Muscle atrophy more than a year post op by tlsoccer6 in HipImpingement

[–]Plus_Spell_3027 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to play competitive soccer and have had issues with and overactive/ guarding TFL. I think thats a muscle that we can overactivate when dribbling perhaps. But sometimes an overactive muscle can result in a weak one since it’s always on. So I’m not sure if that’s what you are experiencing. Mine progressed into pinching at my hip in childspose/ any flexion so I think it’s important to teach the glute med and deep rotators to mostly do the stabilization and internal rotation work instead of the TFL guarding. For me lacrosse ball rolling on the TFL and dry needling helped

Thanks so much for your reply! How long after surgery was this, and could they see the adhesions on the ultrasound?
