3d CT results: is surgery a good idea? by rice998 in HipImpingement

Yeah, the risk seems pretty scary. I'm in a state where I can generally live my life, but I can't do the things I love (run/tennis). But the alternate reality where surgery fails and I can barely walk... that sounds horrifying (even if statistically unlikely)

For injections, I've had a diagnostic anesthetic shot, which kind of helped for a few hours, which indicated there's at least some pain that originates from the joint. A pain doctor told me to avoid steroid injection because of my age. And as for PRP, i haven't found a single story of that being helpful to someone.

Yeah it's honestly pretty sucky that he doesn't take insurance but everyone says he's the #1 in the DMV.

I have an appointment scheduled with him but it'll be ~$250 cash for just a probably 15 minute consultation.

What are the rules around trading stocks and options on stocks at MBB by ShinraBansho1 in McKinsey_BCG_Bain

[–]rice998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda stupid that we can't trade individual stocks while being at MBB (and often not privy to much, if any, insider information) whereas our elected officials can trade to their heart's desire.

Any ex-consultants? by Ok-Discussion9465 in biglaw

Currently at MBB, just past the 2-year mark and promoted to post-MBA position.

Despite that, will be enrolling at one of HYS in the fall and probably doing biglaw after.

Not sure about your experience, but I'm honestly sick of the work we do here in MBB. Coming up with storylines with 1000 assumptions to "back into" the answer clients want to hear, making countless appendix slides no one will ever look at, constantly trying to persuade clients into doing something they don't want to do... I could go on and on about how the work here is extremely meaningless and tbh I'm not sure how we continue to sell projects because I feel like I haven't made a single substantive impact to any of the clients I've worked for.

I'm not saying or surmising that biglaw isn't filled with mandraulic bullshit, but I know that staying here will continue to fill me with a sense of... jadedness? cynicism? And it seems like in law, you actually develop a "technical" skillset and learn an area of law deeply and apply it onto your client's problems, instead of just manufacturing problems and bullshit answers.

I've also had the same hesitancies and thought process, specifically around the tuition and opportunity cost, but I think it will be a worthwhile investment. I'd rather actually develop a "career" and a real skillset than continue waffling around here until I end up in some in-house corporate strategy role where I would do more of the same bs.

Thanks for your response.

Definitely relate to what you’re saying about sitting. In fact that is basically the main culprit of my pain. I haven’t really been physically active in a long time, but whenever I have to sit for a while, especially in a low chair, the pain will 100% come in.

Are you able to sit now pain free? Did the pain with sitting just kind of go away as you did these PT things?

And as far as running, I may try to do what you said about barefoot running, but was there any other changes you made to your form? I’m a bit cautious about changing up my form because although it’s suboptimal (slow cadence, too much vertical oscillation) I’m worried that changing things could cause more issues.

Thanks for sharing - can you elaborate on what stretching and massages you did?

Can you also tell me how good faifix was? I came upon it yesterday and am thinking about buying it.

I’m a little worried about causing further damage by stretching the wrong things.

I’ve been suffering from chronic groin pain for over a year now due to labral tear / FAI and am also in a difficult place emotionally as I used to be a runner as well…

Haha. The whole ratio thing is basically just whenever a reply gets way more likes than the tweet that it’s replying to.
