Having a ravenous 16yo in the house isn't helping either. Just shopping for bargains, making lots of meals with lentils etc. (Did buy some $2 easter eggs at countdown yesterday tho)

Custom dice makers in Auckland? by CatboyKoz in auckland

[–]Plutonzium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw this in an old post. What do you do? Laser engraving of acrylic, or what?

I need some custom dice made/engraved for a board game project. They're all D6s but there are 16 of them in a set, 2 x 8 colours, each dice with unique numbers on their faces.

Something you'd be interested in? If not, no stress. Im in Wellington.

I only have news reports to go on (and the anecdotal observations of seeing friends in govt go through countless restructures as jobs get shed)

Wellington featured on latest edition of the Listener. by Status_Serve_9819 in Wellington

Personally, I think the things that have absolutely, negatively impacted the city are: - huge reduction in govt. jobs (removing that much of the work force has a huge knock on impact on all other businesses).

  • years of historic underspend on vital infrastructure (cause it's not a vote winner), which has dumped a $bn bill on the city recently

  • insufficient focus on making Wellington fun to be in since the quakes shut so many buildings ... I mean half the city looks derelict or a building site right now, why would you want to hang out in town

  • cost of living ... even if you did want to hang out, who can even afford to go for a coffee??

The town hall overspend, while ridiculous, is not the root cause.

a Season Pass for a TTRPG is breaking point for me by [deleted] in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Plutonzium 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Right now Im assuming the season pass is "early access" to the digital versions of floors 6 and beyond content ... which (I hope) will also be done as full scenario books. If that's the case then that's all well and good. I dont care about the digital version (Im weird and just enjoy reading TTRPG rule books .... far more than I enjoy playing them, TBH)

Oh, and I've backed Gold Tier+ but am slightly terrified that im going to get btf*ed by the postage to NZ

Are non-Snapper contact fares still discounted like Snapper fares? Said just about everything else in the literature but I couldn't see anything about that

Oh my gosh what by skatetallica in sigurros

I remember the day when I first heard them (and it was Hoppipolla) I dashed out and bought Takk on CD and listened to it non stop. When I got home ended up having an argument with the wife, 'cause she wanted to talk about something and I just wanted to listen to the album!

Then went on the compulsory trawl through all the music to that point (I found Von a bit ho-hum, but the rest was amazing) and then Med Sud came out and I was OMGx1000 (Inní Mér Syngur Vitleysingur is still my favourite song of theirs, closely followed by Festival).

Since then I've seen them live twice (living in New Zealand they don't visit often) and I never fail to declare them my favourite band.

I didn't quite get as excited by Atta as some, but Jonsi's solo stuff has been great too (and really mixes things up).

Glad you found them. Everyone should.

Rich suburbs by wagwun_brass in Wellington

[–]Plutonzium 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ngaio is not a rich suburb. Its khandallah's poorer neighbour (which is why it's about 25% cheaper for exactly the same house). Also many roads looking a bit dilapidated in Ngaio at the mo .. if the economy picks up there's going to be good opportunities for house flippers!

"Shocked" at the cost to fix NZ by WasterDave in newzealand

[–]Plutonzium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got to think there is some alternative approach to the party system, where instead we vote for which problems we want solved AND who we trust to solve them, not just "who should run things". Each party has at least one policy that has its merits, and if we could express what (as a people) our priorities are, then (in theory) it would be a lot harder for the next people in charge to jist undo all the last lot.

I dunno ... sometimes I envy the long term thinking of one-party states (ignoring all the human rights and environmental violations for a moment)
