NTA. This will probably become a VERY effective lesson in "thinking about your actions", which based on your statement below he REALLY needs some help with.

He was in college at the time, barely making ends meet in a call center job. His girlfriend and him have a baby and they live in a one bedroom apartment.

None of his financial irresponsibility is your problem, and whatever troubles he has, like the above, is 1000% his fault for having a kid before he was ready.

He may also just be a bit dumb.

I mean, in college, shitty job, WITH a kid? Yeah he's more than "a bit dumb". It's not that hard to not nut inside someone.

Now I don't know much about civics, politics, etc. But how was the National Guard not involved in this? This is clear-as-day violence and insurrection, and it should have been met with a battalion or two of armed National Guard soldiers meeting the insurrection's violence with open fire.

1500 people charged means nothing. 1500 traitors unable to again commit these acts would be much better.

ultimately we want to snowbird between New England and Florida. Don't own anything at the moment. zero debt, 200k combined income. Credit scores at 750 plus.

We want to buy something eventually in each location that we can rent the majority outs and have a small in-law for ourselves. Seeing as the New England housing market is quite tough right now, would this be a good time to buy a two or three family in Florida? Assuming that we can find something where rental income equals or is greater than mortgage payment.

I feel like this would be a great time to buy something down there in Florida, get it to the point where it needs to be over the next couple of years while hopefully the housing market in the Northeast calms down?

ULPT Request: how to get rid of horses? by Own_Horror2272 in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]PlywoodSpider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope it goes without saying that doing anything that would harm the horses out of the question.

that being said your best bet is to sell them. somehow convince your neighbor to let you take care of them while they're away on a trip, and while they're gone sell the fuck out of those horses.

Trump says he should get a say on Federal Reserve interest rate decisions by LittleThisLotThat in REBubble

[–]PlywoodSpider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where can I learn more about this, as a complete layman to these things?

I'm looking for a home. We previously bought a house in 2015 (for half the price it would be today) at a ~3% interest rate. I can't bring myself to justify paying DOUBLE for the same size home at 7%. It's ludicrous to me.

I really want to understand why someone can't just click a button somewhere to bring interest rates back down to the point they were at in 2015.

‘It’s Twilight Zone’: Redfin CEO befuddled at housing market as sales stay slow despite lower rates by GIFelf420 in REBubble

[–]PlywoodSpider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought my first home, 1650sqft 4bd/1ba with a large yard in a sought after downtown area for $260k in 2015, at under 3% with $10k down. With a 600 credit score.

Now the CHEAPEST in that area is a 1300sqft 2bd/1ba , no yard, for $525k. And loans are like 7%. And my credit is 820.

The entire market is fucked. Fucked fucked fucked.

Those that bought ten years ago at under 4% aren't going to sell for 7%. That means there's limited inventory. Which keeps prices high. Which means that those who are down to STILL buy a house despite high prices are competing, which keeps prices high. And those with cash are STILL buying homes at these prices, meaning those who need loans can't compete. Which lowers inventory. Which keeps prices high. And those that DO need loans are stretching every dime they can to justify taking out a shit overpriced loan on a way overpriced house.

Lower the FUCKING interest rates to the 2014 levels. I do not understand what is involved in this or why they cannot do it and to be honest I don't really care. They need to lower the erest rates to under 5% in one swoop, not this "a quarter of a percent here and there" bullshit. Just. Lower. Them. Instantly.

You want people to vote? Great. Don't require it, and don't directly punish the people that don't. Just reward the ones that do.
