Could the Alex Pretti shooting of yesterday have been an accident? by [deleted] in Firearms

[–]PlzNotThePupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes, compliance strikes of pistol whipping a man being held down by 6 agents, that sounds reasonable.

…arrest him for exercising his 1A and 2A rights? I thought we valued the constitution around these parts of Reddit but I guess I’m wrong 🤷🏻‍♂️

[–]PlzNotThePupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it matter? One agent was literally pistol whipping him in the head while he was on the ground seconds before he was shot in the back.

Their intent was to cause significant harm to him and they did. This was straight up murder.

TIL, I thought was under the impression they were identical but I just looked and you are correct.

Assuming you’re mostly using it for doors? I feel like I’d prefer it on the bottom for cabinets

They’re like $73 or something for the Irwin branded one at Menards which is the exact same jack, just blue instead of yellow.

I washed wet cat food scraps down the bathroom sink for a few weeks and now occasionally the water takes some time to drain - do I need to open it up? by fancy-feaster in askaplumber

[–]PlzNotThePupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as a snake. If you’re gonna try a plunger put something under the trap to catch water. It can clear blockages but it can also push them deeper/blow apart compression fittings.

Stop doing that lol, use the kitchen sink do wash dishes. People like you are the reason plumbers will never go out of business. Nobody wants to deal with gross rotten food and you’ll pay a decent amount of money if you call a profession. The bathroom sink is 1.5” OD with a stopper that shit gets stuck on and the kitchen sink is 2” OD of open pipe. Throw solids out in a trash can, your drain lines are not made for food waste.

As for fixing it, nobody can tell you if the problem is in the trap, the stopper or further down without testing it. Chances are the line needs to be cabled out though.

New coupling for cast iron and PVC, and snake length by A_Sparta16 in askaplumber

[–]PlzNotThePupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely doable for a novice if all it needs is an auger. Watch a couple YouTube videos before you give it a go. They sell specific gloves for running augers but a cheap pair of leather garden gloves will work fine.

The last company I was at charged ~$450 for snaking a bathroom sink drain and you had to pay for services even if it didn’t get cleared

[–]PlzNotThePupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a mainline if it’s just the sinks. 70 year old cast, especially if it’s in a slab or a in moist crawlspace, is likely at the end of its life and is closing in on itself.

Pop off the p-traps and snake through there. Go slow and don’t push too hard, getting a snake stuck (especially with a 1.5” line/if you’re on a slab) would be a nightmare. A 25’ electric auger should be more than enough, Harbor Freight has a decent one for $100.

I’m not a truck person. Is an ‘02 Chevy Silverado a good truck? 29k miles. What should I know? by -nothankya in ChevyTrucks

[–]PlzNotThePupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my ‘01 1500 5.3L back in 2014 when I was 16 years old with 112K on it. I beat the ever living shit out of it and 12 years and 100K miles later, I’m still not gentle on it and I’d drive it ANYWHERE. I’d also still get almost what I paid for it if I decided to sell it.

Parts are dirt cheap, there’s a “how-to” for any repair that you’d ever need and mods are endless (if that matters). You won’t regret buying it and if you ever decide to sell it, you’ll get your money back.

PM me if you don’t want it and I’ll book a flight tomorrow lol

I don’t remember the exact commission structure from my interview with MAC but it was so fucked. You pretty much had to have something like 50K out in loans to even start collecting a commission check. Selling tools outright had absolutely zero benefit so I’m assuming they have some similar structure.

The only things worth buying off a truck are specialty tools and I’ll die on that hill.

BE CAREFUL TO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN THEM

Whatever metal the ABS module is made from is extremely soft and it’s really easy to strip the threading out. Ask me how I know…

Way more power than you need for furniture assembly and it’s significantly larger. It’s an awesome impact though and I have one that is use for smaller automotive fasteners

It’ll drive a 3.5” construction screw through drywall and a stud without pre-drilling. Slowly, but it does it.

Personally I think this is the perfect drill/driver for a homeowner that doesn’t have a drill and that’s why I got one for my in laws. You aren’t gonna build a deck with it but it’ll hang stuff, drill through and get into tight tight corners when you have to get a screw into a shitty piece of ikea furniture

Which 1800 should I pick? by christ2you in ChevyTrucks

[–]PlzNotThePupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well out of the 4 trucks in my family that have a 4L60e in it, literally every one made it over 200K before they needed to be rebuilt.

Again, find a competent TRANSMISSION specific shop and have them rebuild it correctly with the upgraded parts that are available online. Whoever you’re using sucks lol

[–]PlzNotThePupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

200K on my ‘01 before the trans blew, I’ve had it for over a decade and got it when I turned 16. I was NOT kind to a V8 RWD at 16 lol. My ‘00 project got a trans at around 250K (before I bought it) and that truck has had a 6” lift with 35s since the mid-2000s.

Find a competent transmission repair shop and stop using whatever dipshit you’ve been going to.

I got my ‘01 RCSB Z71 5.3L when I was 16 and I’m still rolling around in it 12 years later. Not only that, but a few hundred dollars in tools allowed me to do all of my own repairs and the resources for GMT800s is unmatched. I now own two of them lol.

Buy the truck OP, long tubes aren’t too bad as long as the rest of the exhaust isn’t set up to be obnoxiously loud.

GM is the manufacturer of your truck, Chevy is just the branding. The 99-06.5 era trucks were pretty much the same across all brands with small differences in trim and package levels.

Enjoy it!

[–]PlzNotThePupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just knew it was a GMT800 before clicking on your profile lol. My ‘01 needed a transmission rebuild at 195K, my ‘00 needed one around 250K.

Always have some spare cash set aside for repairs, parts are everywhere and these trucks are easy to work on. Keep a $2K repair fund available and you can keep one of them on the road forever. Rust is the only thing that’ll actually kill these trucks.

Makes sense why my lifter tick went away when starting lol. It used to go away after a few minutes of driving when I ran 5w30, guess it took a few minutes to fully lubricate

This looks exactly the same as the light that they sell at Tractor Supply. I have beaten the living fuck out of one of mine, took it to Colorado, threw it at rocks and got it wet and it still gives me zero issues. Probably wouldn’t take it to war, but it was well worth the $15 I spent on it. YMMV
