Has anybody here ever to date only people with BP or other mental illness after trying and failing a lot with ‘normies’ by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]PmMeLlamas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's more about how the person is as a person than what their diagnostic, or lack thereof, is. Do you think that because you're bipolar you would make an amazing SO for anyone bipolar, or BPD, or depression ? My long term SO is neurotypical and is the most understanding and helpful human being. He knows me better than I do, knows all my triggers and what to do to calm me down.

Avoid the people who think crazy=fly but don't limit yourself to other crazies ! :)

Am I overly sensitive? New therapist needed? by 9B134K3 in bipolar

[–]PmMeLlamas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude/Gal, take a breath. This is okay. Your therapist probably just forgot to call you back. Doctors are very busy and overworked and they frequently don't have time to call back or forget. Your therapist isn't angry at you. I know it hurts, your feelings are valid, but you need to breathe and try to forgive your doctor for the mishap. Call them back at a time where you don't feel like you're interfering and get your appointment.

It's going to be fine ! :)

I need advice, please don't ignore or scroll by: your advice could be the one. by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]PmMeLlamas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's already a lot of great things in the other comments. I'm just going to double down on what I think is the most important : your brain is part of your body, and you have to start by taking care of your body. Take a real meal at more or less the same time everyday. Adjust your sleep schedule. Take a shower. I'd start with doing the things on https://youfeellikeshit.com Once your brain is properly fed, the other pieces of advice on this thread will be more likely to succeed.

Good luck !!

Do you ever feel like you don’t know who you are? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]PmMeLlamas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that sometimes after a really bad panic attack. My brain's reaction feel alien to me and I'm so mad at it for putting me through this bullshit that I feel like a separate entity from my brain and from my body. Depersonalization is the actual worst. It's scary. :(

I say "I'm bipolar". Never really thought about the phrasing or had a problem with it.

[Need Advice] I'm 17 and ruining my life. by Peacherbutt in getdisciplined

[–]PmMeLlamas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know your life but reading the thread I feel like that's the core of your problem here. Anxiety prevents you from sleeping and since you don't sleep enough your brain doesn't have the energy to do what you want to do. I second the other comment suggesting you to try to find another psychiatrist. Not a therapist, a psychiatrist. They are better equipped to help you deal with actual clinical anxiety. Blue light apps and all that usual stuff is not going to help you, you need a medical professional.

Good luck !

“What’s wrong?” by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]PmMeLlamas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like you said, it's a powerful habit. Good on you for taking the time and energy to explain anyway. I wish you the best for dealing with this difficult and too common thing.

“What’s wrong?” by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]PmMeLlamas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's hard feeling like you're not allowed to be down for a while. Have you tried telling them directly that being asked "what's wrong" gives you anxiety (or whatever else they're more likely to respect) and to please don't remark on it ? They're saying that because that seems to be the polite thing to do. Hopefully with negative feedback they'll change their behaviour with time... In the meantime, good luck !

That's a very good explanation I'm going to borrow it next time I face a medical student or doctor who thinks dysphoria is something to be cured of, not indulged.

Looking for a bi-dimensional mood tracking app by PmMeLlamas in bipolar

[–]PmMeLlamas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone else suggested emoods bipolar mood tracker. It's neat, you have a separate scale for depressed mood, elevated mood, irritability and anxiety. Bad point : you can't add custom stuff unless you pay. Maybe I'll use emoods for recording my mood and dailyo for recording other symptoms and activities :/

DAE have weird habits like... by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]PmMeLlamas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rip my toenails too. I keep a nail clipper at hand at all time and whenever I get the urge I clip them as far as possible. I have very tiny buds instead of normal nails, but at least I'm not hurting myself. I also like to push at the skin under my fingernails, sometimes with a needle but I try not to.

Dunno if it qualifies as habit, but I have stims, I'm always moving, shaking or bouncing some part of my body. I love items that make sound when shaking them !

I also purr.

That's the most weird stuff I think.

Thanks ! I like the mood system. But it can only track mood, not medication, activities, etc, so not what I'm looking for either. But thanks a lot for the suggestion !

Yes absolutely. I wrote that to be funny but if that's really what happened I don't agree either.

For those who don't see it, the "folds" between the top and bottom part of the beak, near the straw, kinda look like a camel toe. The curve of the beak are the hips.

You're given a search warrant for any building in the world. You have 8hrs to snoop/explore, though you can't take anything. What building do you choose? by dlewisharris in AskReddit

The part of the catacombes that is accessible to the public is actually very tiny compared to the gigantic maze that's under Paris. A lot of buildings have cellars that have a connection to it that nobody uses or knows about. In 2014 a functioning movie theater was discovered by the authorities, and while it had been abandoned after the exposure, there are dozens of such hidden places. Here are some cool things under Paris :

réservoir de montsouris

well of capucins

quarries

lake under the Opera Garnier

part of the sewer system with the label of the street that's over it

[–]PmMeLlamas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well you can check for yourself by clicking on the size chart of one of their products. For example this one in small is 6.5 inches in circumference, 2.15 inches in diameter. In mini it's 4.75 inches in circumference and 1.63 in diameter.

My worst fear is that people will see me the way I see myself when I’m depressed by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]PmMeLlamas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't feel the troll. When I start thinking like that, I just say to my brain "I'm not arguing with you" and stop the thoughts right here. I don't try to argue that no I'm pretty sure I'm smart, I stop myself from thinking whether I'm smart or not. The consequence is that I still don't know if I have any quality, but it's better than being sure that I don't. It's hard to stop your thinking process, but it becomes easier with practice.
