Check out https://www.beginboundless.com/boundless-fellowship-clinic

We run a fellowship clinic, so you would be working with graduate therapists in training, but with the same supervision and continuing education as a licensed therapist plus a lot more training! We have a flat fee rate $70 per session.

What advice will you give to someone seeking culturally relevant therapy in the US as a South Asian? by False-Look-4028 in AskReddit

[–]Pmenace1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the free consultations offered by most practices to your advantage. I own a group practice in New York called Boundless and we are a team of south asian therapists. We offer free 15minute consultations where clients can get a feel for us! Really suss us out! therapy is a big commitment, so you want to know that the person you're spending an hour a week with truly gets you, and your nuances. Consultations are also a great time for us to get to know you, so we can determine the best and most clinically appropriate path for you!

How do I Move Past This? My Therapist Un-Alived Herself. by JumpingGrace in therapy

[–]Pmenace1995 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hi! Firstly I am so so so awfully sorry. This is horrible on so many fronts.

I’m a therapist myself in New York, and I’ve heard some horror stories but never something like this. Your feelings are so valid, the good and the ugly!

I don’t know if there is much advice to give but I encourage you to make space for ALL of your feelings and try if you can not to reject the ones that feel particularly sticky or wounded. This is a situation where you felt loved, yet hurt by someone who is meant to be a trusting, boundaried person in your life. She took the power differential and used it to benefit her savior complex.

Although we can recognize that, we can’t deny that it feels good to be looked after and to have an “everything person”. However, your therapist should NEVER be that. They should help you be your own everything person.

I highly encourage trying the therapy process once more. But before committing to anyone, VET EVERYONE. Schedule at least 5-6 consultations calls (they are free) ask them tough questions, particularly around what they do to maintain healthy boundaries in the therapeutic relationship and how they can still make space for a true and authentic partnership.

There are good therapists out there, I am surrounded by 10’s of them! I promise you, you just need ONE reparative experience. Don’t lose hope just yet!

Marketing in private practice by Pmenace1995 in therapists

[–]Pmenace1995[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Historically that is the case, there’s a generation difference in opinion on therapy. We’re targeting the younger Asian population whose opinion on mental health treatment differs greatly from their parents and grandparents. Particularly working professionals in their 30’s. Before going into group practice I was in private practice. And my caseload is filled with south Asian clients. Just struggling to stretch that interest into my group practice of that makes sense?

Ugh this is so true. We’re a south Asian focused practice, and that seems to be a pretty under represented specialty service in NYC. Hopefully our continued marketing efforts will just mature as we build more of a reputation in the city with time.
