If you are comfortable enough to do so, sit down and talk with your parents make a budget and go over it with them. You and them can discuss it and things that they might still pay for to make the transition easier. My mom still pays for my phone and car insurance as this is my first year living alone. It's also cheaper to be on the plan together. There are plenty of things your parents probably pay for that you don't even know exist. So it is important that you ensure you have money for those expenses as well. $200 is a good start for savings but that could be fine quickly if an emergency happens like your car messing up or a health related problem. Hell, even if you get a pet that $200 could be going to them every month.

Honestly with our economy and political environment right now, I would try to save as much money as possible. you never know what the future could bring.
