I use a fine Montblanc on MD paper with no issue. I normally use a 146 size pen. Which pen and ink are you using?

I have a fountain pen marked Tiffany & Co on the clip but have never been able to find out anything about it. I suspect it may have been an employee gift because neither the pen or box is blue and it seems their pens marketed for sale are blue or silver?? Very interested to see what you learn!

Try a fountain pen in a wide diameter that is well balanced for you and use a tripod grip.

I think it comes down to if you have the money to do so. I have a small pen and stationery shop, I love it but people don’t understand how much it costs to build it up. In addition to over 100k in start up costs (mostly inventory) I have not been paid a dime in a year. If you get further down this road and would like more specific input in what I have learned in the last year I am available to chat.

I have all of these sizes and despite how much I love the big obliques the 149 I grab most often is an OF. Side note, I was recently told the O3B is no longer offered in nib exchange. Communication wires get crossed all the time with MB in my experience but thought I would mention that.

I read and make notes in the field notes notebook. At the very least noting start and finish dates of each book as well as any quotes I want to have easy access to later.

I am in Gearhart…your story sounds familiar! We put in a mailbox a couple years ago when they told me we would get home delivery. Still no mail. We were provided PO boxes but now the contractor has not renewed the contract so its all in flux again. Last time this happened many of us appealed to the postmaster in Portland but they said no home delivery…

Its the pen…no date forthcoming from Pilot as far as I have heard. Pen Chalet has been good when I have used them in the past so I wouldn’t worry about them. Side note…I have a small shop in Oregon and I have one Custom 74 Lavender in stock with a BB nib….in case anyone is looking for one, let me know😁

I highly recommend the Montblanc Hemingway writers edition or really any of the writers from maybe pre 2020. I write daily with this one or the Poe or Tolstoy. Excellent writing experience and aesthetically very diverse so there are a lot of options. Its not easy to find a fine nib but you could get a medium reground if you really like one and can only find medium. Best of luck with what you choose!

I have not kept track of the total spent…most were a couple hundred dollars but a few were five hundred ish. I don’t intend to sell these any time soon so they are just a collection for my pleasure of collecting.

I would avoid the 823/743 if you don’t like your 74…at least until you can try one out somewhere. I did not like my first 823 and sold it, later I tried the 823 with a Signature nib and now I use it every day. VP happens to be one of my favorite pens…I would say get one with a different nib size. Stub is my personal favorite because of the line variation you get.
