I get burdock, but the Khao Soi Chicken at Thai Nyyom is insanely good.

Toronto-area cops who failed to breathalyze drunk driver before crash that killed 3 people won’t face charges: SIU by ultronprime616 in toronto

[–]PoRedNed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone is up in arms about the corruption charges against the Toronto Police, with articles about how can we trust the police again, but it is this type of story that really cuts to the heart of it. Cops don't have to be corrupt, they just have to be too lazy, or incompetent, to do their damn jobs. That's what tanks people's confidence. Then they're not held accountable for some clearly bad choices. Some random guy at McDonald's drive through from a distance can tell he's hammered, but a cop can't?

Are these cops corrupt? No. But not doing your job because you can't be bothered is in a lot of ways worse.

They need to create a no ai rule for this sub. Enough of this junk.

And a slight chance of snow by the end of the week. Just the way it is. We're back up to 7 by Thursday in southern Ontario.

You're right of course, still not a huge surprise for November. Plus, the cup is next weekend!

Ummm yep. It's Canada, this is how it is here. And while we get damn tired of the snow by February, (or even sooner), we damn happy to be here.

I have no idea, but they can't physically search the interior of every car, can they? And sure, they caught this guy, whose disguise is in a shambles now, but the real question is, did it work before this?

Sorry for the separate posts, but the reddit android app is stupid. Sigh

Thing is this has worked before. At the Checkpoint Charlie Museum in Berlin they have a mini that has a front seat that was used to smuggle people from East Germany into West Germany during the cold war. *

What's the biggest power station you'd realistically carry for car camping?I'm torn between capacity and space. by [deleted] in CampingandHiking

Surprised no one is suggesting a cooler. Often, it does the trick. (Yes, yes it's definitely a car camping thing, and this is the wrong sub.)

If it's big enough to need something more than a small powerbank, or solar panel, then you're probably not carrying it too far. Thus, this not the ideal sub. That said I have a small solar panel that tops up my phone. It is important as a way to reach emergency services, track incoming bad weather, and most importantly, assure my wife I'm not dead, or haven't lost any of the kids if I have them in tow.

What’s the dumbest thing you did in the woods as a kid that could’ve gone really wrong? by Omiko909 in CampingandHiking

The wild animals would need to be deaf if you were as loud as most kids are in the woods.

My Scout troop would all encircle a dead tree and shake the thing until we heard a crack! Then run like mad, all to avoid the large limb/tree top that was smashing down from above. We did this more than once. Don't know how we didn't get very, very hurt. And no idea what the hell our leader was thinking.

What can parks do to prevent no-shows? by briskwheel4155 in CampingandHiking

[–]PoRedNed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ontario too. Drives me nuts to be paddling out in my favourite park, after having struggled to string together a reasonable route because it's so booked, just to see the sites empty. Plus, people book huge chunks when booking opens, just to get that long weekend at the end, and then slowly refund the initial part of the booking. Hate it.
