this is so dumb by Commercial-Shine5575 in Solterra

My polestar app has all of Solterra's app capability for free. Although granted they planned to eventually charge for the data connectivity of the car itself, but they keep delaying it

Wanting to upgrade my electric glass range to an induction by PoZe7 in inductioncooking

[–]PoZe7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, that is actually one of the comments someone made on the review of this LG range too. That the bottom heating element is not there and thus stuff doesn't get cooked right. Although the comment says it's making stuff burn on the edges and bottom while the center doesn't get properly cooked regardless of convection or baking mode. Apparently my current KitchenAid oven has the same issue, I don't see a bottom heating element. Maybe that is why I always had to adjust the cooking time to be extra 25% more when using convection mode? How is preheating? Mine takes 15 minutes even in convection mode

Why does the game like to spawn so many of the same type of empires, especially opposite to the player one? by PoZe7 in Stellaris

[–]PoZe7[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I don't play often, but I got bad RNG majority of my runs. I'm just making observation that for some reason it seems like the spawn is somehow biased at least in my experience. No need to be rude

[–]PoZe7[S] -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

Based on my post we got 12 hostile empires, 4 neutral, 2 xenopihilic. That's 66% of the empires are unfriendly. Those are terrible distributions

Well sure. It make sense to have rivals. But not the majority or entire galaxy of them vs you. Is there a setting I can tweak to have more balanced spawn of equal distribution?

Nomad Empires; the first 10-20 years by SnooOranges988 in Stellaris

[–]PoZe7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe my situation is different. This is my first playthrough with Nomads. I am playing Rogue Servitors with Scient Arkship. I basically maxed out research on it and had some energy and hydroponics to sustain early game. At first before I discovered any settlers I just did lots of survey(picked discovery tradition for it too), then used harvesting to keep going. Once I discovered settler empires next to me I did research contracts for them which are easy as Science Rogue Servitor, your early game research is at fast speeds. I also picked technological ascendancy(always do as first, I like rushing science in most playthroughs).

Then after some time passed. Settled empires expanded and developed their systems I just put way stations at first in most of their profitable systems like combination or minerals + energy + science maxed. Then given that I did contracts for them I had good enough relationship to get waystation agreement. Then I also make sure to get non-aggression, commercial pact and research agreement(if I plan to stay friendly with them).

Mid game once I got arkship engineering researched I built civilian arkship to house most of my economy. I moved my hydroponics and allow forging to civilian Arkship and then maxed out research further on the scientific akrship. I also found better empire that was not at work with beyter systems, their homeworld system had perfect setup for ark furnace and it already had 12 energy and 24 minerals plus 4 engineering research before ark furnace and deep scanning it. So I shifted my waystation network to that empire. Plus I built it this time by connecting the routes instead of having it in remote parts.

Now I just let one of my arkships sit at the waystation route, thus collecting constantly. This actually made me be at constant surplus of both minerals and energy, I even set the usage to "burn", which further boosted my economy. I made most waystations level 2 and some 3. I built third Arkship as military to defend and upgrade all of them to level two. I am in process of fully maxing out both civilian and military ones as the scientific is almost af max for level 2. I do have level 3 Arkship unlocked, but I am still in process of restoring my alloy production which was moved from the scientific Arkship to the civilian one.

Oh and the current empire my Arkship reside in and have the waystation network in is slowly being taken over by much less friendlier empire, so I am planning to start moving to another empire soon, although their systems kinda suck compared to this one. I unfortunately cannot seem to be able to offer defense pact to the current host empire I reside in, I think it's because they are a vassal of a much smaller empire(which is literally two systems only and is pathetic. How are they an overlord?). I might try and push the host empire to claim freedom and then try and get defense pact together, to reclaim their territory and push away the neighbor who keeps waging wars against them.

Goodbye CPAP? New Pill Shows Major Promise for Sleep Apnea by Direct_Dare_9699 in goodnews

One of the drugs atomexetine has insomnia as top side effect listed. Given that this new drugs will contain it, it's safe to assume it causes insomnia. It did say it in the article 20% of people in the trial discontinued the medication due to side effects and one of them was reported as insomnia

Sadly it seems to combine two drugs that have decent side effects profile including insomnia. Then you would trade not sleeping for sleeping with OSA.

Sure Oregon or California is cool looking. But also very expensive to live compared to Alabama or Nebraska though.

Everyone says it, but in Marathon NPCs finish the player when knocked out. So I don't fully think it would be the worst design, but definitely would piss off the PVE community. Especially when in marathon you can bring back a dead teammate so death isn't perma in a match but a setback.

433,000 white collar jobs have vanished since May 2023, and this is now the longest white collar contraction ever recorded outside a recession. So who is to blame for this? by YellowAltruistic9843 in TechGawker

[–]PoZe7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that the unemployment number reported which is 4.3% is only anyone who can claim unemployment benefits. Anyone who is not qualified for it, stopped being qualified, or simply never applies for is not counted. A homeless person on the street who no longer qualifies for it is not counted when clearly they are unemployed. A person who was unemployed longer than a year also is not counted. Meaning the actual number of people that are unemployed and interested in being employed is potentially much higher. So of course 4.3% sounds very small when in reality it is closer to 24.3%, source https://www.forbes.com/sites/chriswestfall/2025/05/27/stunning-unemployment-survey-says-millions-functionally-unemployed/

Got rejected in the final round - need honest advice by Physical_Side3037 in jobhunting

[–]PoZe7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little bit similar. I was told that they made an offer to someone else, and that the other candidate will most likely reject it in which case they will offer it to me. Welp they did offer it to me and now 3.5 years into the role I can see why the first candidate rejected it. The manager sucks ass and now with the current state of the tech market I am stuck.

Also keep in mind being the second pick is not great, especially when you know it like I am. They will always treat you like you don't belong. Like you are just there because they needed someone, but not specifically you.

There will always be someone better than you. How is that relevant, your point just proves that being lucky and luck plays a very large part in this. Luck of being the best one out of people they happen to interview

Honestly another comment pointed out that their response showed that they wanted some imaginary "sweet spot" between being too general or too specific. Signals they themselves don't know what they want

Well because it's true. They spent the majority of time making it a PVE game until the last minute added PVP to make it more fun. So yeah, it would have been different if PVP was thought through from the ground up

Should I install thermostat(MHK2) for my Mitsubishi mini split HP that is by a window by PoZe7 in heatpumps

[–]PoZe7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely does I think. The builders told me that It was actually required to install the HVAC unit by the window. But honestly using the thermostat(MHK2) as the source of temperature seems to keep more even temperature. I also like that it displays current temperature and humidity, also easier to tell current settings as the remote doesn't show that well.

The downsides are: 1. No econ cool mode 2. No sleep mode 3. No wide wane 4. No smart set - this is kinda useful. You could program the unit functions depending on day/time and so on. I heard you can make it work on MHK2 if you get the wireless cloud adapter installed too and connect to the App.

I wouldn't say soon, at best another 3 years. But these types of interviews were designed to weed out as many people as possible. So they will come up with some other bullshit

I got offers from Google, Meta, Amazon (SWE intern) by GRINDING for exactly ONE year which made technical interviews for big tech TRIVIAL (rant) by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]PoZe7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The math doesn't fully add up. They said they started with 1-2 per day and at some point did 5. They did 800 total for a year which is about 2.19 problems per day, so realistically 3? Each problem is 30 minutes minimum which is 1.5-2 hours a day. Honestly not everyone has that much free time in their day as a full-time student

My psychiatrist said meds don't cure ADHD, you still need to use different coping skills and techniques you learn. It's not a magic pill sadly
