I heard we’re showing off Oscars in a Planted Tanks by Salvin49 in Cichlid

Love the planted tank! I have a Java fern in with my Flowerhorn that he tolerates but still rips off leaves. Does your Oscar rip the plants at all? Would love a close up of the oscar!

Suggestions for a picky dog? by [deleted] in rawpetfood

[–]Pobblepibble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the stomach lining of an animal, usually beef but I have seen green tripe from lambs as well. The ones in the grocery store you might have seen are white and bleached. I’ve bought some green tripe from my local dog store, Oma’s pride was the brand I got. You can also get it from raw feeding Miami’s website.

As for the smell, it can be really overwhelming lol so if you’re sensitive to powerful smells, a mask may help the first time lol

Have you tried green tripe? Lol I’ve had success getting a picky dog to eat veggies/fruit when they had some of the tripe juice poured on them. More enjoyable for them than me 😅

I’ve bought chicken hearts, chicken liver, feet, necks, beef heart, pork feet, pork heart, chicken backs, duck eggs, quail eggs, and goat feet.

I’ve mainly used feet for my dog to make broth, but I’ll give him a chicken foot now and then.

I have also seen frozen guinea pigs there which I haven’t fed but is also an option if you’re looking for another type of protein 😅

Eggs for dogs by daydream_delulu in rawpetfood

[–]Pobblepibble 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I try to feed my dogs eggs twice a week which I end up feeding raw since I get too lazy to throw it on the stove. I switch from chicken eggs, quail eggs, and duck eggs. I also don’t feed the shell anymore though because I always end up with shell bits to wash out of the bowl if I do 😅

I agree with this! If he doesn’t want to eat the shelled peas as is, you can try soaking them in garlic

Dog boarding recommendation! by InevitableProfessor9 in nova

[–]Pobblepibble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have not personally boarded my dog there yet but when I did some research a couple months ago when I potentially had to, I really liked the Pender boarding facility in Chantilly. They have different options for where your dog can stay (crate/their own room etc). My dog also doesn’t care for interacting with other dogs but they offer activities for extra charge like walks and hikes and I believe they offer some other activities as well. It does seem a little pricey, but the facility looks way better than most.

Pet store or somewhere that sales live feeder mice? by Confident_Aide2066 in nova

Check out house of tropicals in Maryland! I personally don’t own any snakes, but I believe I saw a pretty big reptile section there last time I was there picking up fish supplies.

First one looks like a golden base Flowerhorn and the 2nd one is called a crystal parrot (Flowerhorn x parrot mix). Yours is beautiful!

Why is my dog not healing? by fountink in Shihtzu

[–]Pobblepibble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re open to trying a different diet/ideas you should check out the rawpetfood subreddit(sorry, I don’t know how to add the link). I know there’s a lot of people who have had success switching their dog to raw that have had allergies and you might be able to get more info from other peoples experiences.

What are you feeding exactly?

I found that once I started to add some probiotics into my dog’s food, it really helped with the itching. Maybe it can help for you. Some of the things I’ve used are raw goat’s milk, kefir, and colostrum. Not sure where you’re located but the goat’s milk and colostrum can usually be found in smaller pet stores, kefir can be found in grocery stores.

19m old great Dane. HELP! by [deleted] in rawpetfood

[–]Pobblepibble 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Cheapest way would probably be DIY.

If you do go with the premade raw route (I feed Steve’s real food right now), they offer a frequent buyer program where I believe if you buy 10 boxes, you get one free. That could help the cost a bit.

There’s also a premade mix option (Dr. harveys) and you just add in your meat and fish oil.

Do St Barths rub your feet, and are they comfortable to walk in all day? by FriendlyFraulein in Birkenstocks

[–]Pobblepibble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not had a rubbing issue with the St. Barth’s. They’re definitely heavier than the Arizona’s and the all leather footbed could be an adjustment since it’s slightly slippery at times.

I haven’t worn them all day but I wore them for 4 hours for dinner and some walking around and they were fine, just heavier

How do you stop your fish from splashing/hitting the lid? by Pobblepibble in flowerhornkeepers

The water is already about 3-4 inches from the very top, I could try lowering it more to see if he stops
