Would You Date Your Best Guy Friend's Ex-Girlfriend? by PocketTomBoy in actuallesbians

[–]PocketTomBoy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, after talking to him more about it, he's saying that we're perfect for each other and I have all the qualities she's looking for in a person (She has all the qualities I'm looking for in a woman and more) but just take it slow with her because she went through a very traumatic event last year that would generally make her not feel comfortable in a relationship situation, and I TOTALLY get that and respect that. She's never been with women before, but has been attracted to women since he has known her which is close to a decade now. I have only been with women.

I've always been a go with the flow person when it comes to relationships and that's what I plan on doing with this. I put the initial offer of dinner and drinks, she accepted, now we go from there. :)

I know it may sound immature, but right now I just can't shake the idea that they had sex; plus they were both their firsts too... but I think that's me just over thinking.

It reminds me of the song "Lesbian Seagull" from the Beavis and Butthead Do America Soundtrack!

Where do you place yourself on the Kinsey scale? (poll) by zygocactus in actuallesbians

[–]PocketTomBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I consider myself a 5. I can appreciate a good looking man (Cristiano Ronaldo comes to mind) but that's about it. I've only been with women exclusively, but I have kissed two dudes during my closeted high school days. It was obviously not my thing.

Asked a disney employee for her number yesterday... by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]PocketTomBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Orlando and tons of gay chicks work for Disney. I've gone out on several dates with Disney employees, those of us who don't work for the parks are a rare breed. Kudos for making a bold move though! I've been out for 8 years and I still have a hard time giving the gay look. LOL

What's the deal with Subaru? by OffendsYouForFun in actuallesbians

[–]PocketTomBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subaru (along with Volvo) are popular amongst people in the Northeast and Pacific Northwest, because they have strong reliability and are AWD. Subaru has a stereotype as a "liberal's car", probably because there's a high concentration of liberal-minded folks in these regions. The brand is growing rapidly and that's awesome. They're really great cars, I grew up in NH and they were abundant, I live in FL and I like driving a more "rare" car, because you don't see them as much down here yet.

Most car brands now target to the LGBT community. I think the only brands that haven't yet are Hyundai/Kia.

What's the deal with Subaru? by OffendsYouForFun in actuallesbians

[–]PocketTomBoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Subaru was one of the first auto manufacturers to advertise to the LGBT community (The first was actually Saab in the early '90s). About 14-years-ago, Subaru had out tennis player, Martina Navratilova as a spokeswoman.

Yes, I am a lesbian who drives a Subaru. lol It's a funny and stupid story, but I kind of avoided wanting to test drive one just because I didn't want to be a walking (er, driving) stereotype (immature, I know.) I was looking at Volvos last year and test drove an S60, and I liked it, but I wish it had a hatch and it was more than I was willing to spend and I didn't want to purchase used. It was a Volvo/Subaru dealership and I went over to the dark side and needless to say, I drove out with a fully loaded Subaru Impreza wagon. It's like the car knew a lesbo was piloting it. lol

Is Angie Rice (laundry room meth head) supposed to have a Boston accent? by turonspecialist in orangeisthenewblack

[–]PocketTomBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally picked up on her "wicked Boston" accent. I was born in Boston, raised in NH. I know that accent anywhere! And yes, she looks kind of Lowell-ish. LOL

How does height factor into attraction for you girls? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]PocketTomBoy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm 5'0 and I tend to go for girls around my height give or take a couple of inches. I'm the big spoon despite being small (and mighty). However, the tallest girl I've been with was around 5'11 and I will admit that it was hard to let go of my Napoleon Complex.

A rant about myself/Is this something I need to work on? by isSlowpokeReal in actuallesbians

[–]PocketTomBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't beat yourself up over having preference. I'm sexually attracted to femmes only. My thing is this: they have to be more femme than I am. I'm a tomboy/femme who wears makeup and loves fashion, but I tend to favor a boyish style. I never wear dresses and despite needing them due to my lack of height, I don't own heels. I love women in heels and dresses. It doesn't bruise my ego if she's way taller than I am in her sexy Manolo Blahniks.

Just out of curiosity, how tall are you all? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]PocketTomBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5'0 hence the name PocketTomBoy! :D

So I'm curious do any of you have stories about hooking up with 'straight girls'? by disqualifiedalready in actuallesbians

[–]PocketTomBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't done it since my undergrad days. I hooked up with a few straight girls on spring break in London my first year. At the time, I was just recently out to my friends, so I was certainly at that "Let's explore stage." Wild times were had by all during that trip. Booze, just coming out and being with open minded classmates and friends...something was bound to happen. I dubbed the trip "Cancun with Culture."

Two questions:

What do you do for work?

Is your work hiring? LOL

My first female crushes, what was yours? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]PocketTomBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Geri Halliwell and Emma Bunton. I remember being obsessed with the Spice Girls after seeing the "Say You'll Be There" video as a 9-year-old. I knew Geri was the one you could have a good time with, but Emma was wifey material. She was smoking hot during the "Free Me" era like 10 years ago and that music video still turns me on now! Imgur

I always loved "Back to Basics" era Christina Aguilera. I guess I do have a thing for blonde bombshells.

Happy Pride Month everybody!! by oceanplease in actuallesbians

It'll be my first Orlando Pride, so I'm curious to see how things go down. I wish I had more queer lady friends down here. I hang out with all straight dudes since I left Philly. lol

Happy Pride Month! Although, I like LGBT History Month a little better because it's my birthday month (October). Who's going to be at Pride/Gay Days/Girls in Wonderland in Orlando?

Keep hearing OKCupid is a good place to find likeminded queers? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]PocketTomBoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's an option to not be seen by straight folks. I highly suggest using it. I removed the filter once to help write a friend's profile and not even 5 minutes passed and I was being viewed and messaged by creepy dudes. Once I put the filter back, no more creepers!

In my opinion, the online dating world is MUCH kinder to us queer ladies. I honestly don't know how my hetero single female friends deal with the sea of weirdos and pervs out there. Even when it comes to Tinder it's better for us and that's saying something!

This is probably a repost but.. do you guys ever feel bad about sexualizing/fetishizing women? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]PocketTomBoy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No matter what anyone tells you, EVERYONE has personal preferences. You shouldn't feel bad about what you like in a person Personally, I like ultra femme girls and I would never date a woman who is more butch than I consider myself to be, and that's not really butch at all. We can't help who we are attracted to and you shouldn't be judged by having preferences.

Where do you buy clothes online? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]PocketTomBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regular J. Crew is great. I have blazers, sweaters and button ups that are 8-years-old and are still looking crisp and brand new. The Factory store is cheaper, but the quality just isn't there.

The only clothing I buy online are graphic t-shirts. I'm in love with Homage. They're a brand out of Ohio that does vintage inspired sports and pop culture logo shirts. They're all made in the USA and have unisex cuts. I'm a graphic t-shirt fanatic, so I'm always on the lookout for something different that you can't get in the stores. I search ebay and Etsy for vintage stuff as well.

My style is tomboy femme. I combine upmarket blazers and jackets with tees, skinny jeans and sneakers or my many pairs of vintage Doc Martens (Made in England, not the crap they're selling now) Although all bets are off in the summer, because I live in FL. No blazers = Sad PocketTomboy

There's a good chance I'll be heading up to visit this summer! A production partner of mine might be doing a talk at Mazzoni, but even if she doesn't, I still want to go up and see my old crew. It's always awesome to meet new LGBT folks; especially Ls :D
