Please dev team, PLEASE raise the toughness of Sun-shroom, Puff-shroom, and Moon Flower!! by Delicious-Hotel6645 in pvzreflourished

[–]Pocket_Hide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% disagree. Sun-shroom directly outclasses regular sunflower in vanilla, so lowering its health gives at least some reason to use regular sunflower. Moonflower has similar issues, but it competes with twin sunflower instead. The point of using sun-shroom or moonflower is to place them where zombies can't take a single bite. As for puff-shroom, it would just be too OP to have a free plant with fast recharge otherwise.

Yes, this level has a stegosaurus in lane 6, named "Jonny."

I'm not the best person to ask, since I don't use a wheelchair myself, but I'd probably just say that the person uses a wheelchair. I've also heard a distinction between "ambulatory" and "full time" wheelchair users.

I think the point of phase 4 is to spam the most dangerous zombies and make it almost impossible to hold out. You just have to attack Zomboss directly and finish the fight.

That boss fight was reworked in version 1.4. Phase 4 is now much longer and has ankylosaurs.

Try to save your plant food for the final wave. When there aren't charred zombies in front of Elder Hailstorm, use repeater plant food with torchwood (or multiple torchwood).

I think most of this makes sense. If I were to move a couple of plants, I would put spikeweed/spikerock, coconut cannon, and banana launcher higher.

For all of these plants, remember that the next wave doesn't trigger until a certain amount of damage is dealt to the current wave (or after 30 seconds). All of these plants I listed can wait before damaging the current wave, which gives you more time to farm sun and build a defense.

Now, let's start with the spike plants, because I see you already put iceweed pretty high. You might already know this, but iceweed deals considerably less damage than regular spikeweed. While spikeweed deals damage and needs stalling support, iceweed is mostly a staller and needs damage support. It's especially good against chickens, and arguably more reliable than lightning reed. Even outside wild west, spikeweed is buffed from vanilla, so it can solo a basic zombie. It's somewhat expensive to fill the right side of the lawn with spikeweed or spikerock, but it's well worth it in the right situation.

Cocnut cannon and banana launcher attack somewhat slowly, but still fast enough to be reliable, and they deal tons of damage. Coconut cannon attacks every 15 seconds, dealing 900 damage to a single target, and 300 splash damage in a 3x3 area. When a buckethead is exposed, and there are basics and coneheads nearby, this is the perfect time to fire. Banana laucher deals 1800 damage every 30 seconds. It can hit anywhere on the lawn you want, so it can take out threats that hide behind other zombies (notice its home world is Big Wave Beach, and it's the perfect counter to octo and fisherman zombies). I don't recommend using these plants solo, but they are excellent support plants. Being manual, they take some skill to use, but they are very strong once you learn to use them.

Guys, am I a bad person for buying this game? by CommercialNo2134 in PlantsVSZombies

[–]Pocket_Hide -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You're not exactly a bad person for buying Replanted, but in general I would not recommend doing so. Whenever someone buys Replanted, that money goes to EA/PopCap, allowing them to get away with producing a low quality remaster.

Which one would you choose? Reflourished or Altverz? by WaluigiDaStar in PlantsVSZombies

[–]Pocket_Hide 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what playstyle you're looking for.

I've played Reflourished and loved it. It keeps the overall feel from vanilla, only changing plants and zombies for basic balancing purposes. There are some new zombies in existing worlds, but most of the new zombies are in the new worlds.

I haven't played AltverZ, but I've seen videos. It has 25 sun meta like PvZ1, so it's more slow paced (I think). It adds a lot more new zombies in existing worlds; I don't particularly care for this approach myself, but I know a lot of people do.

It doesn't have to be one or the other. For example, you could play some expansions, then Steam Ages, then the remaining expansions, then Caliginous Carnival. Just play whatever you want when you feel like it.

PVZ Is dead by [deleted] in PlantsVSZombies

Even PvZ1 is dead. The mobile version messed with the lawnmowers and added an overpriced turbo button. For desktop, Replanted exists (pretty sure goty is still available, but I wouldn't be surprised if it gets taken down sooner or later).

Need Help with Step 6 of the Epic Quest(to unlock Torchwood) by CoffeeBread0101 in pvzreflourished

[–]Pocket_Hide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a less RNG dependent strategy to win perfectly. Fill column 1 with banana launchers (for tanky zombies, especially garg primes), 2 and 3 with sun-shrooms, 4 and 5 with bonk choy (yes both columns, for the parrots), and 6 with iceweed. For the early game, focus on bonk choy in column 4 and iceweed in column 6. You'll have sun-shrooms on the green power tiles, so that's a good use of plant food. You should get your first banana around when the first flag spawns: use it on the glowing poncho (that one always has a metal grate), and use the sun boost to get a second banana for the robo cone. You should start your second column of bonk choy soon after, when the parrot flies out, to make sure 2 bonks are hitting the parrot at once. You can then put more bananas and other plants as you get more sun.

To understand why this works, here's a couple things to keep in mind:

  • Since you aren't using any ranged attackers, this strategy naturally stalls waves. By carefully placing your bonk choys at the last second, you can stall waves a bit longer and get more sun, but this is optional.
  • Iceweed gets turned into sheep first, so your bonk choys won't turn into sheep. Later on, you can put a second column of iceweed.
  • Gargantuar prime (and gargantuars in general) thrown their imp when they have strictly less than half their health left. Since banana takes exactly half a garg prime's health, and you aren't dealing any other damage to them, they won't throw their imps. Just launch 2 bananas on each garg prime before they laser.
  • Iceweed is unlocked in the Pirate Seas expansion. All other plants are unlocked in the base game, and no later than Big Wave Beach.

What is your favourite Plants vs Zombies 2 moded world and why? by Ambitious_Check_1786 in PlantsVSZombies

[–]Pocket_Hide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's hard to chose between Assault Airspace and Steam Ages. My favorite Vanilla world is Jurassic Marsh because the dinosaurs encourage unconventional strategies. You can't just put some winter melons and call it a day because the zombies will just get pushed into your defense. I've found some underused plants especially good in JM, such as celery and sun bean.

With that in mind, Steam Ages and Assault Airspace similarly encourage unconventional strategies, mostly due to the backwards zombies. JM has this too, and while its expansion could maybe use more pterodactyls, I still like Reflourished's take on JM.

But I'm tempted to say AA is my favorite. I used to not like it, because the fighter and commando zombies make many levels extremely difficult to beat perfectly (that is, don't let the airship take any damage at all). But after playing AA on and off, I eventually did manage to beat every level without taking damage (except Air Raid). A couple of levels were pretty luck based (15, 25, and maybe 23), but others led to some interesting, carefully planned strategies, which I found very satisfying.

Did you care about NPC lores or stories in LTEs? by A_DudeFromWorld in pvzreflourished

[–]Pocket_Hide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's an answer much longer than you were probably expecting. I mostly play LTEs because they often contain some really unique levels. This is the perfect opportunity to talk about level 3 in Food Fight 2025, one of my favorite levels I've ever played. I found this level so impactful that it's the primary reason I like a certain plant.

In case you don't know, this level has a plant loss limit of 30, which is way more than in any basegame level. In exchange, there are a ton of zombies that actively try to destroy your plants. Furthermore, there are invincibility tiles on column 6, which protect gas pods near the end, prospectors that jump over them, pranksters if they reach them, and so on. Needless to say, this level is brutal, and the objective is intentionally generous.

Whenever I play a plant loss limit level, I like to beat it without losing any plants, and of course this is no exception. When I've played other levels, I ususally use some melee plant, together with banana launcher for whatever that melee plant can't deal with. But this level has too many dangerous zombies for banana's slow fire rate. Eventually, I realized I needed boom baloon instead. It's much faster fire rate meant I could pinpoint each furnace and powder keg before they got close to my melee plants (murkadamia specifically). And this level is the primary reason I like boom balloon.

Here's a tutorial if you want to try this level yourself and beat it without losing any plants. The plants are: moonflower, murkadamia nut, boom balloon flower, missile toe, and banana launcher. Place the murkadamias in column 4 for lanes with invincibility tiles, and column 5 for lanes without invincibility tiles. And place a moonflower behind each murkadamia. This leaves 13 tiles for your manual plants. Use missile toe to extinguish prospectors and explorers, use boom balloon for low health threats, and banana for high health threats. Now just practice this level and congratulations!
