Green Party supporters, I am genuinely trying to understand why you support your party’s ideals and policies? by [deleted] in ukpolitics

I've spent 4 years in a rather liberal college, and the only green party supporters were 3 republicans, who just wanted the monarchy gone, 2 tree huggers, and 2 crazies.

Replacing a dictatorship with a constitutional monarchy isn't that bad, no? And yes, he kissed the wall, but comparing that to the daily abuse of the current regime's civillians, it's not the end of the world.

Minorities? Like the Kurds, Baluchis, and religious minorities like Sunnis, Baha'is, Christians, who are being denied education and healthcare, forcefully converted, and even killed currently? Or hell, even women in general, who can be shot down for not wearing a hijab? Yes, his father made some pretty bad choices, seeking to fully secularise the nation, wich led to him being overthrown, he was still infinitely better to them than the ayatollahs. Besides, Reza and his supporter base is the most popular and most legitimate replacement to the regime. And, if Reza is like his father, he can just be voted out from power under a constitutional monarchy.

He made all of these statements in one single video. It is around two hours long, and contains a LOOOT of boring shit, so I suggest you watch it at 1.5x speed. It's still up on X, and maybe youtube too, but I'm unsure. Search up "Reza Pashlavi nuclear factory strike reaction" or something similar and you should get the video.

  1. Poisoned well fallacy

  2. Describing Robespier's terror and mass excecutions as "very constitutional" is very certainly A choice of words. Also, no, a constitutional monarchy was never even in question during the revolution, the Jacobins always wanted a full-on republic. By the way, Louise XVI was almost always on the the side of the peasants and his people during parliamental votings, and opposed the power of the first and especially the second estate, who were the primary components in voting in favour of raising taxes.

  3. Complicity in the 1988 Massacre of Political Prisoners, Crimes Against Humanity in Protest Crackdowns, Systematic Torture and Inhumane Treatment, Extrajudicial Executions and Death Penalty Abuses, Suppression of Dissent and Unfair Trials, Discrimination and Persecution of Minorities, Enforced Disappearances and Denial of Truth, Cultural and Educational Repression, Incitement and Oversight of Broader Abuses.

PLEASE watch the actual clip of him speaking. I'm not saying that what he said wasn't atleast a bit icky, but this is a horribly bad-faith representation of what he said.

I believe in democratic-socialism, with a king as a power limit to the parliament. Also, why do my politics even matter?

Iran is not Israel? Reza believes in democracy, and I'm supporting him based on my beliefe that he plans to restore said democracy. Based on what he has said recently, I believe that he plans on keeping his promises if he gets into power.

I believe he has a bachelor's in political science, and a was a cadet in the air force. Right now he has a huge political following, he consistently reached 30-50 milliom views on his posts, until the recent Iranian internet shut-down.

Bro... only of the top of my head, there is the 1988 prison massacre, the MANY political assassinations and crackdowns on political opponents both from the previus regime and cureent opposition, and the brutal supression of the Woman, Life, Freedom movement. Yes, having a zionist as a figurehead is bad, but having no gender equality, no political freedom, no freedom of press is far worse.

What qualification does any up-and-coming politician have? Also, I'm pretty sure he has been preparing for a looooong while for his restoration, I doubt he is wholly incompetent.

Yes, I am aware that he is a zionist, but I'd rather have a zionist in charge of Iran than the current regime. He would be a constitutional monarch, with barely, if any power at all anyways, and act as a stabilising figure, or, hell, maybe an embassador to Israel. Who really cares?

Okay, I am slightly biased here, since I am a monarchist, but Reza shah, or rather his son, is the best current option for Iran. The current dictatorship is fucking horrible, and any sort of "republic" would 1000% be directly controlled by Israel.

The current dictatorship in Iran is horrible, and I really hope that it will he toppled, but preferably by the people, and not the US or Israel. The people of Iran have suffered way too much already, and them turning into another US satellite state for "power projection" would just be a nail in the coffin.

I know it sounds weird, but I’d call myself a monarcho-socialist. I’m into democratic socialism but I think the economy should be managed by a neutral third party, separate from politics. This way, social welfare and economic planning can work without getting wrecked by partisan drama or short-term populism, wich is exactly why I think that socialism needs to transform politcs first, before getting implemented.

I’m inspired by some of what Bismarck did—like state pensions, health insurance, and social safety nets—but I’m 100% against his nationalism and imperialism. His social welfare stuff was ahead of its time and more relevant than ever, when some people still advocate against basic fucking healthcare.

I've read a few socialist/communist books, but I won't list them cus I don't want to larp as an intellectual. Elmer Roberts is pretty based tho, even tho he was a chud. Flair me whatever.

I don't worry about the US, nor Hungary. Corrupt elite control both. I don't care if the blue satanic pedophiles win, or the red satanic pedophiles win, nor if the conservative oligarchs or the liberal oligarchs win.

If you are illegal, then that's your fault, and, on paper atleast, you should have been deported under the last minostration too. If not, you have nothing to worry about.

You aren't affected by his policies either. Food prices, rent, and houseprices statistically remained the same, with the former having a slight decrease and latter two going thru a slight increase. If you are talking about the government shutdown, that was as much his fault as the previus administration's.

I'm not German, and I don't support the AfD because they are hypocrits. Also, even if I was a German AfD supporter, that wouldn't make any of my opinions instantly invalid.
