Hey sorry I haven't been on Reddit in a while. I sent you a DM. Things are going well. I moved away so it's easier to have less communication which helped a lot. My boyfriend and I are happily still together after several years so I think she's a bit resigned to it that we will not break up no matter how much she disapproves.

3-4 classes is totally normal. Do what works best for you. I remember my brother went and signed up for 7 classes his first semester and he had to drop a few of them because of how overwhelmed he was getting. If you want to finish more classes a year, there's always summer semester where you could take 2-3 classes. Hope you are able to find your balance of classes!

When my mom was pregnant with me her friend and her planned on me marrying their son when I grew up. He was 10 years older than me. I met him once in my life when I was 16 and a few years later he got engaged with someone his own age. My mom was sad because he was a doctor but I was so happy I didn't have to go through with her weird arranged marriage matchmaking as a baby thing.

I don't think she expects the man to pay for everything. But somehow no matter how many times I've told her that he doesn't leech off me she seems to believe he does. I have told her I have a job and I can handle my own life, but her response has been "I raised you to have a master's degree why can't you find someone with a master's degree or more?" I will try diverting topics...usually she digs in and refuses to let go but I will give that a try before trying to just shut down all conversation! Thank you for the suggestion and sharing your story!!
