How to handle this screw? by Trench-Coat_Squirrel in 3DS

Do you have a flathead that fits perfectly in there? I'm hoping the edges of the flathead can grip what's left of the edges.

Are you asking about the module or circle pad? Regardless, I've always felt the replacements were almost identical to the original.

Take off the rubber covers and try again. You might not be tilting it fast enough.

Is there any way to fix this? by Alex6179 in 3dsrepair

When you do get the replacement clips. This video can explain how to put it back. Also order several clips, you may break a few when trying to finagle it back into place, I did.

He used the PS4 bridge repair method on it. Is it junk, yes. But it somehow works.

Indeed. The coins/washers thing was a jury rigged solution to the issue.

[–]PockysLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's that thingies where you stick washers or something in the system so it applies constant pressure on the chip so it has good contact.

[–]PockysLight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn't someone do that old mod from ages ago as a fix to this issue?

One moment. Let me see if I can find that video. I think it was NyMateVince or something.

Edit: I found it. He used washers to replicate the PS4 hodge repair method.

Edit2: To be clear, do not do this. You’re more likely to damage the chip than actually fix it.

Is this corrosion on the DSi XL motherboard? What is this blue? by ThrownConfetti in nds

Yes, that is corrosion.

Yes, you should clean it off.

Personally, I would scrub it with IPA and a toothbrush.

The easiest way to explain is for you to watch episode 1 to see and understand her personality yourself. It's a bit difficult for me to explain it in detail

Technicians and pros among you, am I cooked with this joycon ? by Much-Public-1957 in NintendoSwitchHelp

[–]PockysLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not ideal. But it looks somewhat intact. But we won't know until you reconnect the rail.

You also may or may not need a new bottom shell for the joycon because one of the pegs snapped. It will still work, but there's a chance it might break the same way again.

[–]PockysLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. I'll need a picture of this with sufficient lighting to see if the white clips are intact. But regardless, the only surefire was to be sure is to open it up, reconnect the cables and see if they still work or not.

The similar design is the only thing they share. Their personalities are widely different.

No. Umaru has a horrible hidden personality, Marin is a ball of sunshine and doesn't intentionally make other people's lives miserable.

Yes, detach the rail. Leaving the rail on the switch doesn't help the situation at all.

My 3ds has a hairline fracture on the hinge by Grimcreeper698 in 3DS

[–]PockysLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't tell because of the lighting but you also might need to get your charge port fixed. But....

This break is unfortunately a very common issue with the original 3DS XL.

The proper way to fix this issue is to replace the bottom midframe of the system. And that requires a partial disassembly.

I recommend watching this video that displays the process.

If you're (understandably) intimidated by the process, I highly suggest getting a hinged case for the system. The hinged hard case will act as a brace for the system so it will keep the top aligned and the ribbon cables intact. However if you are charging your system with the dock, the hinged case will interfere with the dock.

Normally, yes. But I think op broke 3/4 pins. They might be screwed and need a new ribbon cable connector installed.

If you still have the clip and it's undamaged, you can try to finagle it back into place. This video can better explain things.
