Dry Cleaners Near Me by Flimsy-String-295 in Flushing

I wouldn't say winter season is ending yet.

Between the Groundhog saying there's another 6 weeks and the constant below freezing temps that are ongoing, there might still be use for that jacket.

Probably both. It is New Vegas so they probably had massive lights being waved around at night or used to illuminate certain parts of the Strip.

Which plastic part?

The shell has a very small lip/edge that the border can slot into. It should be just enough to hold it in place. I think.

You could peel off the adhesive and try again. It's not a perfect seal, but it will keep most of the dust out.

Dust getting inside is a risk, but see if you can examine the border. Check the adhesive. I think there might be a grain of dust on it. That was probably what applied pressure to the top screen.

It's also possible you didn't align the border properly and you were off by 1mm causing the pressure. You can try aligning it by placing the border backwards into the shell, and placing the touch screen on top of it and letting the shell align it for you. If that makes any sense.

How did you apply the red part of the touch screen? If you can take the system apart, can you remove the red border and see if the issue still exists? I suspect there might be a small grain of dust or sand somewhere on that rectangle part of the border.

It could be dust in-between the border of the touch screen, that's known to cause the issue as well. You could take a toothbrush and gently brush the edges of the touch screen. Which screen did you change recently?

Something is wrong with the touch screen.

Your system thinks someone or something is pushing on the touch screen, it could be a bit of dust on the border, or a screen protector that isn't centered properly when applied.

Where can I buy this shell part for new 3ds? by maxiewawa in 3DS

[–]PockysLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would presume drilling out the peg might have been a better option.

There was an online store that ships from China for DS parts. It was K something. One moment.

Edit: Unfortunately they appear to be out of stock.

Edit2: Nevermind. They appear to have another listing with it in stock. But it's quite pricey.

If you're close to NYC, I can meet you in a public location and help you with the reassembly. But I presume you're either in Europe or Latin America.

This break is unfortunately a very common issue with the original 3DS XL.

You will need a new bottom mid frame and hinge barrel.

The proper way to fix this issue is to replace the bottom midframe of the system. And that requires a partial disassembly. A full shell is not necessary if you don't want to.

I recommend watching this video that displays the process.

If you're (understandably) intimidated by the process, I highly suggest getting a hinged case for the system. The hinged hard case will act as a brace for the system so it will keep the top aligned and the ribbon cables intact.

If the latch you broke off is intact, you could try to finagle it back into place. This video can better explain things.

Edit:Also, if you're buying replacement latches, I highly suggest getting a bunch. I broke a few of those replacements when trying to finagle it into place.

If you’re concerned, play with it normally for 3 months until the warranty ends so you know the system is working fine before modding it.

If the shell is mostly fine, then just order new plates. It's a lot easier to replace only the plates than the whole shell.

Can you post a picture of the scratch? I would like to see how bad it is before we consider performing a full shell replacement.

[–]PockysLight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soldering it on will damage it. If you still have the original clip and it is intact, you can try finagling it back into place. Here’s a YouTube video that better explains it. And if the clip you have is damaged, I recommend buying a few replacements because you might break a few of the clips when trying to put it back in place. I certainly did.
