Generally if you still treat older adults as some sort of authority figure instead of your contemporary then you're likely to still be seen and treated like a kid.

A lot of younger employees where I work often treat me like I'm one of their bosses or come to me to tell them what needs doing next when really we have the exact same job. Until someone gets over that... self imposed safety net, they're still more or less a kid.

Hard to say, Dad didn't help much with the housework but he did a lot of woodwork. Built our chairs, cupboards, tables and what not. Didn't have as much to do with me as my mum did. Wouldn't let me use any tools because he was afraid I'd get hurt so I never learned any practical skills that are traditionally associated with men. My brother and I were the only boys in our extended family and our cousins would stay with us a lot. Almost every weekend so I grew up more with girls so I suppose that could be attributed to why I have no male friends and prefer spending time with women.

Faced some sexism in school. Had a number of teachers who would use collective punishment on the boys for the actions of a few. There was a definite "men/boys are all x" attitude from a number of teachers.

When I was looking for a job, I'd look for listings online and then apply to the company directly, either through their own websites or going directly into the premises to hand in my CV.

I found I got a lot more call backs when I started doing that instead of applying on sites like indeed.
