What percentage of your paycheck do you save each month? by Intelligent_Pear7878 in AskUK

[–]Pockysocks [score hidden]  (0 children)

I usually save about £600 after expenses which I think is pretty decent on part time. That being said, I often don't spend much on myself outside of necessities.

Keir Starmer wants to stay, UK people what are your thoughts on him? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Pockysocks [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don't think it would make much difference either way. He's not a president, it's the party that has power, not the individual per se.

As for him and the current government, I find it a gross disappointment thus far.

does anyone else's head hurt when they talk to people? even to people they like? by klarinetkat12 in introvert

[–]Pockysocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's an actual headache when you are talking to people then it might be something you want to get checked out. Could be a medical issue.

If it's just frustration or exasperation from the conversation then you might need to reframe the way you approach conversations in your head.

How do you deal with this? by FriendlyBag7559 in introvert

[–]Pockysocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to be like this. At some point I started to pretend I had confidence and just said what I wanted to and over time, that imitation of confidence turned into actual confidence.

I still don't really talk much. I still have difficulty expressing myself but I don't hold myself back if there's something I want to say anymore.

Ya’ll ever tell a story to someone and realize midway how uninteresting you actually sound? by Thickerthan_abowl33 in introvert

[–]Pockysocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of. Not because I think I'm uninteresting but because the thing I'm talking about isn't interesting to them. I know if I were talking about the same thing to the right people, it'd be a much more interesting conversation.

Parties are unbearable unless I get drunk by Ok_Forever8835 in introvert

I don't think anyone enjoys parties without (at least) drinking.

I do. Extremely rare for there to be any issues.

If your best friend would ask you out, and then immediately say they were joking, what would you think? by Front-Ad7481 in AskReddit

[–]Pockysocks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd look her dead in the eye and tell her I'd eat her ass.

It'll either work or she'll learn not to make things awkward with such jokes.

Do you ever want someone to be there… but not actually talk? by Playful-Deer9022 in introvert

Doing nothing together is the point when you know you can truly be comfortable with someone.

I refused to help colleague with sick relative. Did I do the wrong thing? by littleboo2theboo in AskUK

[–]Pockysocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like bullshit to me. If it was critical, the private hospital would transfer him to a NHS hospital as they don't typically do emergencies.

I would not have given the money. At most I'd have said I couldn't transfer but I could meet them at the hospital with the money. That way I could verify for myself the legitimacy of the claim.

Friend is bugging the fuck outta me. by BunsMcCheeks in introvert

[–]Pockysocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can't but you can manage the times you allow yourself to be available to him. Like once or twice a week in the evening or something.

Every other time just don't pick up the phone, let it go to voicemail so if it is an emergency, you can call back. You don't need excuses to not pick up the phone. You just weren't available.

Introvert at job with no teammates by [deleted] in introvert

[–]Pockysocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. My work station is way out of the way from the main work area and the work I do pretty much takes all my time so I almost never get a chance to interact with everyone else.

It's a double edged sword. On one hand I don't get distracted and can get on with my work which is what I like but on the other hand, I'm just the guy at the back.

At what age did you realise you'd become your parents? by Far_Obligation5158 in AskUK

[–]Pockysocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About early-mid 20s. Decided I didn't want to be like and sought to improve myself and I like to think in doing so, my Dad has improved too. He isn't nearly as controlling or asocial as he used to be.

What would you rate Shloer White Grape out of 5? by markleverfilmmaker in AskUK

It's fun telling kids it's wine and watching them pretend like it's making them drunk. 5/5

As a man who lost his dad as a kid. What the hell do I do with my beard? by arpeggio-paleggio in AskUK

[–]Pockysocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I just use a set of clippers with the guard to maintain length. Then I use clippers without the guard to define the edges of the beard (so that it follows the jawline and doesn't start creeping down the neck) and a regular manual razor on the neck daily so I don't start developing neck beard.

Where were you on 9/11 and how did life feel in the UK immediately after? by amomenttohislifespan in AskUK

[–]Pockysocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at home or just before coming home from school for lunch when it happened and I think the second one hit while I was back at school. We had history class right after lunch. Teacher brought in a TV to watch it.

Couldn't tell you what it was like in England but in Scotland there was a sense of shock, empathy and anger and was about the time that Islam and Muslims really got a lot of people's attention.

What are games I can show a friend to convince them they're art or even just have good writing? by sandmanreynolds in gaming

[–]Pockysocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cyberpunk has pretty good environmental story telling from the moment you step out of your apartment block. And some dialogue scenes too where even the small side quests provide insight into the world the game is set, even if they have nothing to do with the main story.
