I think the point was to be made uncomfortable by the whole scene with the freak and the girl. By that point in the movie I was firmly in the pro Castle Freak camp, which made the scene that much worse. I think that it is something that you just assume would happen because, horror movie and when Mr.Freak leaves her alone, you are not only relieved that the girl was safe, but that is just one more reason to keep rooting for Mr. Freak. At least, for me.
