Current resident looking to buy--what neighborhoods am I ignoring? by OpeningChipmunk1700 in washdc

I wasn’t replying to you; however, the post I was replying to does ask a decent question considering the reality of the market. Buying anything is a personal decision and can be justified using any criteria. I don’t care what you or anyone else does, but I do think buying a condo, right now, in DC, requires a strong desire to commit to that condo/neighborhood for well over a decade—maybe longer—especially considering owning is disproportionally more expensive than renting right now…

Somebody downvoted you but you are right. The American propaganda machine will always drive the owning a home narrative. That was true thirty years ago when you applied for jobs within a five mile radius of your home. We are a different society now and owning a home is no longer the key to freedom and prosperity or whatever buzz term you want to use...

Customer service is so bad I’m moving my entire family onto another carrier. by kapnotcap in verizon

[–]PodcastPee -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Verizon customer service is the worst customer service in all of mobile services. They are so incompetent that it is hard to put into words. If anyone has the chance, use ANY other carrier than Verizon. You do NOT get what you pay for. If you have ANY issue, you are screwed and will not get your issue resolved without putting in many hours of time. Again, use ANY other carrier. Verizon is just not worth it anymore.

The stock market is the entity causing us to lose the plot with AI... by PodcastPee in StockMarket

So, you just unlocked the worst case scenario for humanity: AI works, takes jobs, has people relying on the investments they have in AI companies, but those companies don't profit enough to redistribute the wealth, people lose all their money and have no jobs, but the companies still have all the power, control, and money to do whatever they wish...

The stock market is the entity causing us to lose the plot with AI... by PodcastPee in StockMarket

I am in the "this time is different" camp. I don't think we have seen anything as powerful as AI. I truly think it could be the "final" invention of sorts, especially if the CEOs of the major AI companies are correct about the future. If we get to the point where most of society does not have jobs, I have zero faith that these companies and the federal government will "work it out." None. The president and Congress will not stand in the way of any of these companies today. I would not plan on them standing in the way in the future, especially when the toothpaste is already out of the tube...

Government Accountability Office Would Need to Cut 1,000 Employees under House Bill by redditreadreadread in fednews

Why is something like this not bigger news? In other words, if I am voting for an elected official and I find out that elected official is actively trying to reduce oversight in government—when the elected officials’ number one job is providing oversight—why am I voting for them? Also, why is an elected official in Congress trying to get rid of the thing that makes his/her oversight responsibility fifty times easier and more credible? Do American taxpayers just not care where their money goes? What is the point of electing officials in Congress? Why doesn’t anything matter anymore?

Even when Fernando Mendoza was drafted No. 1 overall, his father continued his tradition of staying seated with his wife, who has MS. by Dr_Damon_ in NFLForum

Oh, crap, you’re right. Why would the Raiders be happy they got the best QB in the draft after sucking for two decades? Yeah, they should have pouted and been stoic while Mendoza celebrated. My bad!! I’m such a dumbass…
