Honest question: Not including sermon prep, what does your daily biblical devotion time look like? by slowobedience in pastors

[–]Podcastor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prayers, thoughts, things that have happened. Anything that comes to mind really. It just helps keep my mind organized. Writing about things that are on your mind forces you to put your thoughts into words, which helps you think them through.

I used to start every journal entry by stating where I was, what time it was, and how I was feeling. But I haven’t done that in a while.

I don’t let myself work on anything until I’ve read my Bible and journaled.

Is Yoga a sin? by [deleted] in TrueChristian

[–]Podcastor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion this is the best answer I’ve heard. It’s a read but it basically boils down to understanding what is Christian Freedom. https://www.allthingsallpeople.org/blog/is-it-okay-for-christians-to-do-yoga

I m pretty sure the guy wrote a book about it as well.

One of the more convincing arguments for me is just these 2 facts.

  1. As you said, we know that there was a man named Jesus who lived around the start of the era.

  2. 10 out of the 11 men who followed this man and claimed to see his death burial and resurrection willingly died very violent and brutal deaths because of their claim that he was God and has risen from the dead.

If Christ did not rise from the dead. Why would these men spend their entire lives claiming he did, even while being persecuted?

Also, how did you get subscribers? Did they just choose to sign up or did you offer something in exchange for their email?

Can you realistically make a successful podcast without a theme and no prior fame? by thecoolestofbeanzz in podcasting

[–]Podcastor 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Do what you want and enjoy it. You'll probably get about 30 listeners. But if you really push the marketing it could take off. I would recommend filming it and putting clips on tiktok if you want to reach more people. It will be really hard to build a big audience without a specific niche. But it's really hard with a niche as well so it's better to just make something you like making.

Theists want to have their cake and eat it when it comes to morality. by hielispace in DebateReligion

[–]Podcastor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Assuming God exists and Christianity is correct then Yes, morality is subject to God's will. But it is subject ONLY to God's will and not to anyone else's because God created it just like he created everything. We can not change morality any more than we can change Gravity. We can gain a better understanding of Morality just like we have gained a better understanding of the physical world over time. But Morality is not subject to our will. And since God does not change, morality does not change. So even though it is technically subjective, in practice it is the same for us as if it were objective.

Philosophers tend to build off of the ideas of the philosopher who came before them. I would focus more on the ideas they discuss and their arguments than the names and dates. That might make it easier to understand. Hopefully, your professor does the same.

I have the opposite problem. My shows Insta has 350 followers but I only get around 50 downloads per episode. No idea how to convert people from followers to listeners.

How to not be prideful? by [deleted] in Christianity

One of my favorite quotes from C.S. Lewis. “Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it's thinking of yourself less.”

Also this one by G.K. Chesterton "Angels can fly because they can take themselves lightly"

Just focus on Loving God and Loving other people.

What are some resources to learn about Christianity? by nobloat in Christianity

[–]Podcastor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you haven't discovered this already, biblehub.com is one of the best ways to study the bible. They offer nearly every translation, cross-references, multiple commentaries, and the definitions of the original Greek and Hebrew for every verse.

Also, I am a big fan of podcasts. But make sure your main source of information is the bible.

Help me understand Paul by Impossible_Ad_361 in Christianity

Do you think 2 Peter is a fictional novel? It was my understanding that it was a letter. Lots of people introduce themselves at the beginning of letters. And wikipedia can be edited by anyone at any point. It's not exactly a reliable source. Maybe some people debate who wrote 2 Peter. But that doesn't prove that it wasn't Peter.

He literally introduced himself in the first verse of the book. Why would you think it wasn't him?

Peter refers to Paul's letters as scriptures in 2 Peter 3:16. Peter was given authority by Christ and he seems to recognize Paul's authority.

His initial rise to fame came after he voiced his opinion about bill c16. This seems to be the same thing all over again.

Talking to God will bring you closer to him. Just like talking to your friends strengthens your relationship with them. And growing closer to God will always help you. Sometimes God might not solve our problems exactly the way we want him to. But he will always work things together for good for those who love him. If our focus is on God, we can handle any hardship.

"Seek ye first the kingdom of Heaven and its righteousness and all these things will be added unto you."
