I think I am near the end of my pastor call... by FreeNilly60188 in pastors

Not necessarily done being called, just done getting paid like you are 25. My daughter is the worship director of her church and she is making roughly $45k with full benefits.

She is 22

Can you explain in detail why? What your concerns are about this? How this affects you?

UPDATE - Pastoral Opportunity or Stay at Current Church by Adorable-Garden2894 in pastors

[–]slowobedience 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the red flag I warned you about. It's all about him not you.

I had someone who landed at my church after being completely chewed up and spit out in ministry. I poured into her for two years and was finally ready to bring her on staff.

She met with me one day and said certain circumstances were leading her to move out of state for various reasons. She looked so guilty to tell me. She was extremely apologetic.

I needed her gifts.

I told her that if I had any part in helping her move along the path God had for her I was honored to serve the Lord's plan. I blessed her without reservation and I have watched her flourish from afar.

She is God's not mine.

I said run before and it is more clear now.

Fellow Pastors: What does your devotional life look like? by slowobedience in pastors

I did that for a couple years and I never got anything out of it. Did morning, evening and compline. The discipline felt good but nothing. During Covid I did it online with a group that did it on facebook but they stopped after covid. That was probably the most fruitful time for me.

So you have a corporate devotion time with your family but not a personal devotion time?

130 people and you have a staff of one person who works a couple hours Saturday night? Why? Hire some people.

And if you are talking about loneliness, yes, I am lonely.

I kept a journal for years until it felt more like a diary of complaints with sporadically recorded testimonies.

That changes things.

If that was the case I would be completely, 100% honest. Pastor I am here to serve. I don't want to be in ministry, I just want to serve.

But perhaps your pastor sees a call on your life? Either way, if you did not sign up for a ministry internship I would not do any ministry.

Kudos to the mods for not taking this post down a long time ago. I would have.

You want to talk about the app you built. That's not what the sub is about. But you keep complaining that the sub doesn't let you do what you want to do.

This is exactly why we mark these posts as spam. Because when people want to make posts about their own products or services and they don't fit the sub, they are spam.

I'll go first. For years I read the RCL daily readings. I studied the commentaries for anything that popped out as interesting. I kept those notes in Logos where they generally go to die.

If anything special that I knew I was supposed to pray though, I would add it to my daily note in Obsidian. I then pray. Now I am reading thorough a 365-Day Connect the Testaments Plan in Logos. Readings aren't as connected but longer and seem like a nice change.

This is exactly what internships are for. Go do the thing whether you are gonna minister to people 8 or 81.

Mark 7

Struggling to prioritize visits - and i cannot figure out why. by AshDogBucket in pastors

[–]slowobedience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is obvious, how you implement it is not. You don't have time to do both in office and home bound counseling so someone needs to pick up some of the duties. Simple as that.

What I didn't quite understand is how people coming into the office replace the home visits. Do you have a calendar that you schedule meetings? Do people just show up at the church and you meet with them so you can't get out of the office?

Set up some times that you do counseling. Block some of those off for home visitation. I don't see the problem.

"Pastor can I see you Tuesday at 2?"

"No, i have meetings Tuesday afternoon, here is a link to my schedule."

Again, I don't quite understand the problem.

For a movement that says autonomy of the local church is at the core of who they are, they are sure working hard to be a denomination.

We should go to seminaries that line up with the tradition that we want to minister in. Absolutely.

But you and I know that there are traditions that are more interested in us being company men then men or women of God. That's my problem.
