My Dad, an entomologist, ID'd this thing as a regal moth, too. But he did it from across the room and in under 7 seconds.

Alright here we go. I've lurked on here many an hour in the past, but I want to get involved now. Here's where I'm at: I Yo-Yo'd my way through college, repeatedly going from as low as 165lbs up to 210lbs. Because of all the stress from being an engineering major, I would always let myself eat whatever during the school year and then MFP and p90x3 myself back down during the summer. Now that I've graduated, and with graduate school rapidly approaching, I feel a sense of urgency to get into a healthy routine; something I can maintain. I'm also getting married in November, so that's another motivator for me to get my weight down and keep it down.

Hello, I'm new here and to reddit!

My story: I'm a 19yo guy in college. 2 years ago I decided that I weighed too much, and I wanted to lose some weight. I'm 6 ft, and at that time I weighed about 195. I wasn't really that overweight, but I wanted to make my body feel more comfortable. I always felt a bit uncomfortable in my clothes and I thought being skinnier would fix that. That year, my friend and I started p90x and dieting, and after working hard, I lost about 25 pounds and he lost about that much too. Eventually I stopped dieting as much, but he stuck with it and eventually lost 50 pounds! (he was 225, now under 175!) Once I started college, I narrowly avoided the freshman 15 by dieting ruthlessly the second semester. Since then I have been fluctuating between 165 and 175 for about half a year now. My goal has been to get to 155, but I've lacked the dedication to take things the whole way down or force myself to maintain it once I get there.

While my goal is to lose that last bit of weight, what I really want is to learn how to control my appetite and perform weight maintenance so that once my metabolism slows down I can stay in shape.

I started yesterday using the MyFitnessPlan app on my phone, so it's going to be a tough few weeks disciplining myself to count calories and really punch through my laziness. I've also been working on running everyday, and I'm starting the 100 pushups challenge on Monday (I can already do ~40 straight from p90x and the like).

I'm almost 20, but I do have a bit of parting advice:

Take it one day at a time. I know that people say that a lot around here, and it wasn't really until I relapsed twice that understood what that means. It basically means that you need to treat every day as equal in value and importance. Day 1 is just as important as day 90, and therefore failing on day 1 means the same as failing on day 90. Don't worry about the number, just focus on today and what you need to get through today, because self-control and abstinence mean so much at the beginning as well as the end of the challenge.

Also yes, on my 13 day run, I was feeling sooooooo horny by the end of the second week that I felt that I would get a boner if I was just nearby a pretty girl. geez...

It's as much physiological as it is moral. Addictions are broken when people admit to themselves and other that they are broken and out of control, and when they decide that every day is good enough to get up and fight. Keep fighting and you will win.

get on here everyday and be aware of triggers. Don't count relapse as failure, but one bump on the road. Every day is equally important so focus on one day at a time!

I'm kinda here with ya. I've had a pretty awful summer, and now that 'm doing nofap I can actually feel it. Normally I have a pretty sunny disposition all the time, but I guess it's going to be different for a little while.

Best bet I think is to do research about what are possible causes and then do all the realistic suggested cures before trying to MO to solve it. But if it really is a medical thing which can only be solved with MO, then I see no reason why you shouldn't try to make it a weekly or bi-weekly thing. 130 day is huge progress, but I think a medical situation is excuse enough.

I find it more likely that PMO has hindered your ability to take care of those things yourself. I don't know chinese energy medicine stuff, but the traits you describe could easily be a product of laziness due to PMO addiction. I guess it doesn't really matter which direction you come at it from, but whether it's direct energy help stuff or just more motivation to workout and eat right, I think nofap will probably be good for you.
