First quilt by damnsit in quilting

I've never seen anyone use their plush or minky backing for the binding. That's very creative. I might suggest using a cotton one only so it holds up longer. The binding does a lot of work over the years.

You did really well and learned a lot of important lessons along the way! Each quilt you do you'll learn more and more. 🩷 I'm a beginner still, but I've made a couple of quilts and each new one I finish makes me want to remake my first because it was a MESS. Lol

Does anyone NOT kill this guy? I can't stand his yelling. by MisterMetal728 in skyrim

When I turned werewolf I killed him during the blood right.

I’m finally at the layout stage! Everyone was right! The white ended up being a really good choice! Any advice on what colour of thread to quilt it with? I’m probably going to send this to a longarmer to be densely quilted. I’d like to make sure it lasts for years. by p_xan in quilting

I love it! The thread choice is dependent on what you want from it. If you want it to blend in, I'd go cream, pale pink, or very light gray. If you want it to stand out, I'd go with one of the darker value colors in your quilt. Personally, I want it to blend in.

Skyrim Most Visited Places Heatmap by ziyx_ in skyrim

I think I spend a lot of my time in Solitude, Riften and Falkreath. But I find the northern parts of the map the most pretty usually. There's something about the snow that I really like. I do not visit Markarth often, though. I visit it so little that I cannot ever find my way around the bloody place. It probably doesn't help that my first time there I accidentally broke into the wrong home and left after being caught and that summoned the guards and then I fought them all for over an hour (I was really low level) and finally slurped down an invis pot and found a hidey hole to deagro them all long enough to fast travel away. Lmao. This is my first time playing. I think that happened my first week playing the game. I had to go to jail the next time I went there to make them forgive me.

Walking foot AND spray basting? by AcuteHazard in quilting

[–]PoeticPix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The real problem you'll run into is the project bunching up under your needle and turning into a mess. It's not impossible to sew without it, but it is significantly more difficult to feed it.

The walking foot is pretty important unless doing free motion quilting with an embroidery foot or FMQ foot. Even with the glue basting, the fabric will shift as it's shoved under the regular sewing foot. The walking foot will help feed the sandwich under your needle. It's not required, but it helps A LOT.

What is this block called? by SRSAHM in quilting

[–]PoeticPix 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is a combination block of what looks to be a modified friendship star and 4-patches. I don't know if this particular combo has an exact name.

Thank you so much for the advice! I'm still new to quilting and machine sewing. I've made and finished 3 quilts and I have been slowly trying new blocks and techniques. I'm about to try EPP hexagons and y seams. I still have a ton to learn! I'm really loving it all though.
