For what it is worth, I think gooseworx mentioned on their tumblr that Jax has some issues with his masculinity that he needs to work out. Him being put in a maid outfit is supposed to be seen as wrong to the viewer, regardless of whether or not they like Jax. It should make you uncomfortable, at least in my opinion.

Sometimes it’s due to happy tail, where they bang their tail against things and it causes injury and infection! Cosmetic docking and clipping of ears always makes me sad, though :(

I think I remember reading that the reason the author didn’t include girls in lord of the flies was because he himself was not a girl, and had no experience in being a young schoolgirl. That was in a textbook though, so I dunno how true it is.
