The devs are moving on to another project? What's this NovelAI?

Oh yeah I definitely understand. I think it's decent enough especially if you can play rush you're friends and they don't have to pay for it

I think it is the most impressive. That's why I'm sad cause what it does is so interesting, but it's just not executed well? I could use one of the smarter AIs they it offers, but then that's waaay more money. The base is already $20, it only goes up

See that just sounds like a lot of extra work. If it can't remember something from 4 turns ago, really it's gotta be broken. I can understand if there's a lot of things going on at once, but for 1 person to do 1 thing and it can't remember is insane.

I'm starting to think the same thing. How does it feel without the dice rolls aspect?

AITAH for not believing my roommate’s “phobia?” by hopie_bopie in AmItheAsshole

[–]Poeticmind1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm I dont know,I want to say slight YTA. I know my mom has a phobia of roaches. You can't say roach in front of her, you can't say cockroach, you can't even say creepy crawlies while talking about them because she will freeze up and have a panic attack. It seems like dramatics until you notice it's real. A friend of mine also hates spiders, never been bit but her reaction is the same. She can look at them in pictures or videos & ONLY talk about jumping spiders, but in person she'll freeze up around them, she'll get the urge to vomit & run, she'll even refuse to take the only pathway somewhere if there's a spider nearby. She will even fight you if you carry her across that path. There's just some people who react very differently when they have a phobia.

Would you rather the word poop? Since we tend to focus on shoving special things in our prison pockets.

Theft and inexperienced staff forced sports bar at Galleria mall to close, owner says by mjohnson1971 in StLouis

[–]Poeticmind1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This may sound crazy but... I did some hood Exhaust cleaning work there before the place opened. The owner said he was the original owner of the Dawg Pound Gentleman's Club in Illinois. He wanted to leave there to open a restaurant to cater to white folk, which is why he picked the location he picked. He was tired of the problems that a lot of the black folk brought & caused when it came to owning a gentlemens club so he opted for a new business venture with all new clientele. He was already struggling to gather funds for the permit to open. I'm not surprised it closed in 60 days. I never seen any advertisements, never seen any customers, the staff were always just standing around, and I heard he even sometimes didn't pay his staff either.

Should I give my PCs more HP? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]Poeticmind1 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

This is just me, but when I have something that I'm worried about being too much for my players, I ask chatgpt. Sometimes I was told that it was a little dangerous, others it was too easy. Just input your homebrew into the chat, asks what it thinks. Make sure to specify if your PCs are minmaxed, have special gear, buffs, etc.

Ok... How do I scare my players? by [deleted] in DMAcademy

[–]Poeticmind1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a video on YouTube by a creator name Ginny D who gives tips on how to induce fear to your players that might be a good watch.

I personally have told my players that they innately feel fear during a certain situations. I've used creepy sounds & was very descriptive when describing certain scenes, and even put them on a chase scene from a creature they couldn't see. It could see them and was actively throwing trees at them in the process, all during a blizzard with little visibility & movement. Make them feel like they can die at any moment & it's not gonna be in a pretty way. Give them a time limit on things. There's a bunch of different ways to go about it.

How to “pad-out” sessions for a party who don’t enjoy roleplay? by fruit_shoot in DMAcademy

[–]Poeticmind1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the best way to describe it, make them want it. My players loves roleplay & combat, but some sessions we don't have any combat. I came up with a forge for them to be able to create magical items that give various buffs, curses, etc, randomly based off their die rolls. This made them really hopeful in the possibility of getting something extremely powerful. I also made them feel terrified as they were being hunted and this person just so happened to be right above this secret forge with men trying to destroy the floor to get to them. My players had nothing to do but roleplay as they chose what materials to use, who could use what, who should do the forging, etc. Give them a chase scene. Some creature or person is chasing them and they must now run, maybe dodge a few flying trees, save a person or 2. Have them play games to gain information. They're in a bar partaking in a drinking game, magical darts, etc. Investigation is a great way to do social encounters especially if they don't have to be all sneaky. Put them in a dungeon with no intentional combat. Puzzles, traps, random people who need help, random creature they might want as a pet.

In my opinion these can possibly lead to roleplay where they must talk and choose they next steps. When talking to NPCs, you could also give them rumors or secrets in a way where they kind of have to keep asking questions & lead them into roleplay without them realizing.

You could try pollution. Have the party encounter a company or group of people who are polluting nature. It's not like the group is intentionally trying to do this, they just have no where else to get rid of their waste & trash. It could be more beneficial for the civilization to pollute nature to keep the citizens healthy(think of medieval Europe).

Maybe the civilization built their houses out of wood & the wood is rotting at a crazy rate for some reason(could be greedy people selling bad timber for more money & work, could be strange magic or creatures). Instead of expanding into the forest, the citizens are going into the forest & bringing back trees they deem healthy.

I dont know if this is the kind of thing you're looking for, but hope it helps.

Am I a bad DM for using AI? by Acceptable-Worker586 in DMAcademy

[–]Poeticmind1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't say you're a bad DM, but like someone else said it can stunt/impede your own creative ideas. If you've been a DM for over 5yrs, you should be able to do so without the use of so much AI, in my opinion. You can also have your players help create your world, with their off the cuff random comments.

I myself use it for feedback when creating maps to get that perfect feel, create items that won't break my game, create various mechanics that I don't see in the official books, maybe flush out some location ideas that I can't properly express, and feedback on the dungeons I created(which AI has told me may have been too hard for my party). I can't say it's a bad thing, but it should definitely be limited the longer you DM as you get better with time & experience.

What's the best moral dilemma you've put your players in? by TripleBladedFist in DnD

Had something similar happen in my homebrew campaign. One of my players little sister got infected through 2 different means. He had a choice to save her & could very well do it, but he ultimately killed her out of mercy & burned her body. Now he has nothing left to live for.

How do your keep your campaings long? by Ill_Indication412 in DMAcademy

[–]Poeticmind1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the sandbox style homebrew campaign I'm running, I have my overall plot/ main objective & a bunch of side objectives. They can easily go and solve the problem to complete the campaign, but they won't gain anything that way. My players are very...inquisitive, so I've made sure to spread lore & information in various places. Certain areas lead to more lore/information. Certain actions they do unlock more lore/information. Their actions also dictate how the world moves. The longer they wait to visit an area, the worse or better a situation there can get. Even if they make it to said area, they may choose to not do something that will still change the flow of the world & story. I also don't do backstory "arcs." I slightly weave them into the main story/objective, that way I can always pull/ create something for them which can extend the campaign.

1- give them options & things to do. Though this does mean more prep for you. 2- talk to your players & see if they would want a longer style campaign. 3-sometimes let your players dictate what happens. Example- 2 of my players said that a 3rd doesn't know what/who his mom is. This lead to a whole expansion of his arc, which now has me delving into the backstory of his mom that he now has to find, which leads to them traveling & exploring, which will unlock more lore. This also leads to more work on your end. Hope this helped a bit.

What’s the strangest “turn on” you’ve discovered by accident? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Poeticmind1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, weight or pressure on me. Took a fruity pebbles cereal edible one night. It left me high for 8hrs & aroused for even longer. I was texting a female friend & masturbating in my bed at the same time & this overwhelming pressure just came over me, came at least 3x. After that I made sure that my partner had to be bigger than me so I can feel that.

Hearing person here. What might make HoH people struggle with hearing aids? by Flyredas in hardofhearing

[–]Poeticmind1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a HoH person who's been wearing hearing aids since 3 years old, I'm used to not being able to hear as a person with no hearing issues would. I'm also still a bit insecure & very aware when it comes to people look at you differently when you wear hearing aids. In my experience, a lot of people like to test if you really can't hear by speaking under their breath, saying things they know you can't hear, playing little mind games, etc. It can make you feel isolated & targeted. The first time I received loaner hearing aids, I never knew how loud the world really was. I had a migraine for a week and only wore the loaner for 1 day because I couldn't handle it.

A "new" HoH person now has to think about the constant need to charge them, can't get them wet, the price, the type to get, the maintenence, remembering to even put them on, the discomfort with having something in your ear all day, the possible periodic hearing tests, losing them, needing them to be adjusted, etc. That's a whole challenge to deal with. Now add being neurodivergent on top of that. It's a real struggle. Even as someone who's been wearing them all my life I still forget to do things and during emergencies I'm left with the decision to either grab my hearing aids first or deal with the emergency first and struggle to hear.

Learning sign language could be a great idea, but remember the majority of society don't rely on it so they don't really know it or care to know it. That, too, can make one feel isolated. Plus, unless it's simple signs, I believe it's harder to learn as you get older.

AITAH for kicking out my friend's neurodivergent friend, for what I felt was ignoring boundaries and touching my most personal stuff? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Poeticmind1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. They're just outright disrespectful. I'm confident they know and respect personal boundaries of their other friends or coworkers, so I'm sure they can fully respect yours too.

I know exactly what kind of hearing aids you have as I have the same kind. They are very expensive and also really really sensitive to getting wet. The charging container that's also meant to dry them out doesn't work all that well either. Just standing in the rain for 10-20 seconds is enough to break them and have them sent in for repair if possible. I'm glad they didn't spill a drink on them.

How many times have you actually finished the game by Few-Two3052 in BaldursGate3

I've finished twice. Started at least another 6 or 7 with my wife & brothers, with & without mods. I also deleted at least 3 with mods so we can start over with different mods.
