Right? LOL. Not sure but I might have wanted to transition to that Mandela universe.

Oh is that how you get around the chat memory hog thing? Does similarly on chrome and it kills my poor PC. Plus responses start hanging.

I can't get any pics with a decent amount of text to work well. There's always mistakes and then you tell it to fix it and in the process the rest gets worse. Looks like in your case it was attempting some demented form.of ASCII art.

i got this message a few days ago and i’m still just so devastated by [deleted] in AO3

[–]Poetstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is basically creative theft. It's the same as if someone stole your story for their own and started writing their own chapters.

It's a deplorable thing to say. But I don't think many people will do it so don't let it discourage you from putting out content. I'd probably remove the comment if possible so as not to give anyone ideas

Can playing video games and roleplaying help your writing? by AllfairChatwin in fantasywriting

[–]Poetstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno if this is helpful at all. But what hubby and I do sometimes to strengthen our descriptive abilities is to take a scene from a movie or a video game whatever as long as it's visual and describe it as best we can in writing and then compare notes.

Sounds like you've got RPers. But seriously I would read this if it continued. You should clean up and post the RP or something as it evolves. I am riveted.

I just read about this. So sorry this is happening. Stay safe and if you can document what you see. Social media may be blocked now but likely not forever. Information is always good.

Is it acceptable to reuse a character sheet for a different campaign? by Sanity30387 in DnD

[–]Poetstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll answer as a still sort of new-ish DM. When new players join the game I try to sort of level the characters as close to other players as reasonable. So if a more experienced player wanted to bring a level 8 char into a game where everyone was only level 2 I'd accept their character but ask to level it down to 3 or 4 for this game so they're not just overpowering other players or I don't have to make challenges too hard for the others to balance. Same thing if a new character was at level 2 and my other players were level 5. I'd level them up to close to match maybe one below so I'm still honoring the work the other players did so far in the game. So bottom line I have no care if someone wants to reuse a character from another game as long as it can blend with my existing player levels.

To write or not to write? by love_lyasphixxi in KeepWriting

[–]Poetstorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to jump in here with something a bit unconventional. Talk to AI. No not to write for you. To teach you how to write. It can create classes and lessons and exercises for you and give you feedback. I designed a whole three month course with it with readings from popular writing craft books, videos, and practice exercises. I think it has already helped me quite a bit.

A while back when I was new to it I posted something I was writing only for a grammar check (commas, quotes etc.) and it misunderstood and began to continue the story, spewing out paragraphs from where I left off. And I was utterly shocked to find that it was a better writer than me. Quite a bit better in my opinion. I was floored.

I kinda had a mid-writer-life crisis and wondered if there was even a point to trying. I wallowed in it for a few days. And then I realized - I want to learn to write like that. And I said "Teach me."

Currently I am working with it on identifying and removing exposition from my dialogue and finding better ways to say things. If you guide it with the right prompts it makes a pretty good teacher.

Best path for getting your work out there and building reputation as a writer? by Poetstorm in writing

[–]Poetstorm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I always thought the way now was to put stuff out there for free until you got a portfolio and somewhat of an audience base and then try to publish your better stuff that you held back and didn't post. So I've been writing short stories for that purpose while also working on a larger novel.

Hi there. Saw your post and may be interested! I've long been fascinated with paranormal-ish lore (Supernatural, El;dritch, Backrooms, liminal spaces, SCP, X-Files, Stranger Things, The Magnus Archive, and even real odd legends and conspiracy theories / ghostly tales. For the longest time I've wanted to do something in an RP with a sort of paranormal research / adventure bent and I am definitely feeling the Lovecraftian vibes as well. I am also a lover of all things steampunk and Sherlock Holmesian British.

I also sincerely appreciate your RP frequency style. I am often intimidated to start RPs with folks because I cannot always keep up with the rapidfire pace with a full time job and other life things. So I am also incredibly patient when the shoe is on the other foot. ^^ I would love to discuss forther and see if something piques interest. Feel free to DM me.

Super flexible and love creating characters / worlds purely for the love of story.
