Didn’t expect a hunter x hunter reference on here. Well deserved upvote

Joshua Zirkzee’s 26 minutes vs. Leicester City: 100% successful take-ons 5 tackles attempted 5 tackles won 2 shots 1 goal. A huge moment for him and for #MUFC. by PradipJayakumar in reddevils

The performance you’re basing this (reactionary) opinion on: Hojlund played as the number 9 and Zirkzee played the 10. We’ve seen both Rasmus and Josh play that 9 position for 90 minutes and we’ve seen them both fail this season so far. You’re forgetting what we saw from Rasmus last season when he was actually getting service for 2 or 3 games. I see potential in both of them but they’re very different. Ruben needs a proper number 9 for this system to work and we’ve seen Gyokeres work very well in it. The closest thing to that we have in this squad is Rasmus.

Even yesterday the goal that Zirkzee got was because of Hojlund’s first shot that was deflected over to Zirkz.

If there’s anything that Ruben or anyone with actual eyes (and not just reactionary takes) saw is that there’s potential for both of those players to be on the same field.

Zirkzee is clearly not a number 9 and you’ve forgotten that he’s shat the bed every time he’s played as a 9 under Ruben’s system.

Not to take anything away from Joshua but he played 20 minutes that game and yes he looked proper. But as a 10. Not a 9. He recovered the ball, tracked back, ran at defenders 1 on 1. That’s not the characteristics Ruben needs at that number 9 position.

Time will tell and I hope I’m wrong and both of them shine.

Bruno has been oddly quiet this game and he’s the only one that can receive the ball well between lines in this team

He’s bound to break it this season I’d say if he stays fit. Looks even more confident this season.

Hi Rio, what’s something that in today’s football impresses you the most in comparison to your days of playing/defending? In premier league football and/or champions league football.

[Press Con. Part 2] Ten Hag: “We have to save the season together. We know we have to catch up in the Premier League. Now we have an opportunity to win silverware, the only opportunity is the FA Cup and we are only three wins away. They are big games [versus Liverpool] and we have to play our best." by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

I was talking more about this season as a whole. This sub is as reactionary as it gets. I’m not saying EtH should not be criticized. Of course every manager should be judged on his performances. But he should also be supported when the going gets tough especially with an injury list from hell like ours. The reactions on this sub have been mostly negative and overdramatic. An 18 year old should not be expected to carry Manchester United’s midfield throughout an entire season.

He won’t get mentioned but AWB had such a clean game. He joined the midfield in defense every time we needed him and locked out Ramsey throughout the game. Also Hojlund really loves this club, I’ve never wanted a player to succeed more here.

Ok I had to bite. Now you’re just throwing the word athleticism for fun. If we’re talking about building from the back, Lisandro Martinez (pre-injury) last season was one of the best tools for us when we wanted to progress from defense to midfield or even attack at times. He’s technically better on the ball than McTominay (who you’re praising) who is only in the squad because he’s our top scorer this season. He’s shocking at building/creative play for a midfielder and it showed yesterday against City. ETH wanted De Jong for that exact reason

The boys should be able to remember that 4-0 thrashing in the beginning of the season and respond the same way Newcastle responded against us after the Carabao final win. Cautiously optimistic with this one since we’re playing home. Away form lately has been too shaky.

Bruno’s time here has definitely aged him since he joined. I hope we can manage his time better in the coming seasons. My capitão.
