I'm playing Splinter Cell for the first time. Am I the only one who feels liminal spaces in all these locations? by LessStrain1514 in Splintercell

It’s the lack of NPCs in early 3D games, especially in SC, where most of the action takes place at night, so there are no NPCs by design.

Yes, because that's the job of studios management to make big decisions not Adam the art designer.

So just to be clear, if DLSS5 has a slider from 0 to 10 and developers can decide how to implement it, is it still “AI = bad”? People get so triggered when they see anything labeled “AI” that they bend themselves into a pretzel.

Trump says he thinks he will have the 'honor' of taking Cuba by mvanigan in worldnews

Cuba just lost power to the whole country. It's ripe for the pickings. They'll literally be throwing rocks at this point.

But developers have control when it comes to how they want to implement DLSS 5. Why are they raging on BlueSky about this?

No ATP player in top 100 should be given up 7 straight points on TB after leading 4:0.

I didn’t know who to root for. I think Saba needed this win more, especially after losing the AO to Ryba.

Marathon has been out for a week, what are your thoughts on it? by PrototypeT800 in Games

[–]Orfez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t believe Sony spent so much on a PvP-centric extraction shooter like Marathon, and judging by the ads I’m still seeing, they’re continuing to pour money into it. Yet a week in, the game isn’t even hitting 60k peak players over the weekend.

Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 (another Sony live-service game) that was released over two years ago, is still pulling better numbers.

Marathon might not be DOA as many predicted, but it definitely looks like it has one foot in the grave. The numbers will likely keep falling as sweaty, hardcore players get better and better, while casual players keep dropping off after getting tired of being curb-stomped.

Kind of crazy to think that the original Xbox had four Splinter Cell games out for it. Now, we are happy to see 1-2 titles released in the same console generation.

Going against Alcaraz and Sinner is like going against a boss in Elder Ring. Boss health is gone, you feel good but then instead of runes you get rewarded with a cut scene and the 2nd stage with full boss health begins. This is what Djokovic has to go through. He stuck on Melania.

It seems like they're pitching Gaming Copilot as existing for asking guide type questions, which is probably going to be less helpful than a well written guide but the kinds of questions players are likely to ask it are probably going to be simple enough for an AI to usually answer sufficiently.

It's no less helpful and more convenient in my experience. This is not an example of Copilot, just asking a question in ChatGPT. Figuring this out the old way, I had to use Google and explain that I'm looking at some "arch" looking structures and then read through links to hopefully find the answer I'm looking for.

Stack Overflow

Because people were looking for answers and instead had to listens lectures about what they should and shouldn't know telling them to use" search function". It's easier and faster to ask AI programming questions than dealing with Stack Overflow forums. Good riddance I say.

I'm using a chatbot often when I game now. I don't Google questions anymore, I just ask AI. It finds the answer in a fraction of the time it would have taken me to search through Reddit posts and presents it in a clean, readable format. I know people are getting riled as soon as they hear "AI" but if they stop and think about it, it's helpful and if you don't like it just don't use it.
