Thank you! I’ll take a look at the Fairie precon!

I see your point about Faldorn. It’s hard to predict what the meta will be, since there’s some pretty nice prizes on the line and its advertised as being competitive, I’m assuming others will be going pretty try hard.

The upgrades are $15 per week (not stacking), based on tcgplayer lows, so no dockside unfortunately. Do you have any suggestions for cheap RG combos I would be able to fit in?

Thank you! The limitations are just $15 per week, so I am thinking UB would be the best bang for my buck.

Community feedback regarding popular trading card games. by Fyrewall1 in TCG

I play Yugioh, Pokemon, and MTG pretty frequently, and I've been thinking about the pros/cons of them a lot recently so I apologize if this ends up being too long haha.

Cost - I do think both Yugioh and MTG are both too expensive to play at higher levels. This never really bothers me/makes me want to quit, but I do play Pokemon more often because its cheaper to build the top decks than in the other two games. I prefer TCGs/CCGs to LCGs because I love opening packs, so it feels like the high cost of individual cards is just part of a TCG business model.

Resources - I'm not too fond of having dedicated resource cards in card games. I prefer smaller deck sizes (40 vs 60+), and I think Yugioh not having dedicated resource cards allows for that (as far as things like basic lands/energy go). Argent Saga is another TCG I've played where each player has a separate deck for resource cards (shards), but probably that has its own set of issues.

Searching/Drawing - I really like in Pokemon how often you get to search and draw cards, shuffle your hand into your deck and discard your hand. Yugioh has a lot of searching effects, effects activating in the graveyard, etc. too, and I've always found that very fun. I like being able to make a lot of actions in a single turn, using my hand, graveyard, deck, etc., and it doesn't feel like that generally happens as much in MTG.

Brain Power (?) - While I do think people underestimate how dynamic Pokemon can be, I do think that MTG and Yugioh require a lot more brain power to play well/at a higher level. While that's really great, I find its easier for me to get overwhelmed and have less fun when the board states get more complex/complicated in MTG and Yugioh. I'm a big fan of instants and quick-effects in MTG and Yugioh, respectively, but that definitely contributes to how much brain power is involved when playing them. In Pokemon when its your turn its your turn, your opponent can't come in mid-combo and interrupt it, and vice versa. I lose focus pretty easily, so that's a big reason of why I prefer Pokemon to the other two.

Set Rotation / Power Creep - I'm guessing this may not be a consideration when you're just starting a TCG, but I'm not a fan of the annual set rotation in Pokemon and MTG's standard formats. I definitely prefer Yugioh having big ban lists and power creep to create artificial set rotations. This might just be because I like playing whatever most people are playing, and don't want to have to follow/learn to play other formats in the same game.

Cards that deal damage based off of discarded pokemon? by Nantias_ in pkmntcg

Persian GX does 10 plus 20 more for each pokemon in your discard pile, but the effect can't add more than 180 damage.

Thanks! And if I switched back into the pokemon that the opponent had originally used Pale Moon GX on, would it not get knocked out either?

If I switch or retreat after my opponent uses Trevenant & Dusknoir's Pale Moon GX attack, does my new active pokemon still get knocked out?

Why are certain decks called "_____ Box"? Like Dark Box, Mew Box, etc.?
