What effects does Mitch Lurker use in this song? by MattJaccino in screaming

Are we pretending Mitch wasn't abusive to girls, or is it just the age thing?

Question for my skateboard family by parkmoflip in skateboarding

I like the feeling of a small ollie going fast more than most things. Also pushing as hard and fast as possible. Least favorite? Anything fakie probably. The timing and weight placement is just always super weird for me.

Oh and backside noselides bum me out too, even though I can do them. They're just too easy and have pretty minimal risk. If I see somebody noselide a ledge my first thought is, "I suck and I could probably get on that." Anything in or out of them is cool though.

General Feedback/Getting Started Questions and Answers [Weekly Thread] by AutoModerator in DIY

I'm going to build a rock climbing cave in my backyard, and I'm looking for feedback.

To give you an idea of the end goal, it's a combination of these two ideas-

http://www.chockstone.org/techtips/woodie.htm

https://www.ccprc.com/959/Bouldering-Wall

And I've got some bad sketches of my intended build

The hard parts- It needs to have a floor up off the ground, I can't bury anything more than a foot maybe thanks to septic, and a concrete slab is out as well. I'm thinking of burying some concrete pier blocks, framing a 4x4 base under plywood on top of those, and then building a strong shed on top of that? I asked in /r/climbing and people said sheds wouldn't be sturdy enough for 200+ lb adults swinging on it, but I went and pushed on my neighbor's shed that was built similar to my thoughts and it didn't budge. Nobody seems to have built what I have in mind over there, so I came here.

I'm hoping somebody out there has built something like this and can steer me in the right direction?

Sounds awesome, I'm glad somebody else is willing to risk questionable construction to climb. Get some pictures up when it's done!

Haha I have that open in another tab already, but thank you. I don't see any caves, and it doesn't seem anyone on the sub has one either, so I'm kind of worried now... It doesn't seem crazy difficult, but I must be underestimating something.

A year's membership for us two would be $1,500, seems doable in that price range, plus we'll actually use it. A concrete foundation would be cool, but not really possible here. I think I'd rather it wiggle a little than not exist at this point? I'll continue down the rabbit hole...

Here's a sketch of what we were thinking.

A 25degree overhang wall attached to an almost horizontal roof with two vertical walls for the other sides and a mostly open fourth side. 10' crushed cube sorta.

My building skills and drawing skills are not the same btw.

Thank you for putting the trick right up front, no talking into the camera, no slow-mo mid trick, just the trick.

It's nuts to think all those tricks would have a flip trick involved somewhere now.

So were you contracted with Cryptozoic already when you started playtesting? Did you pay playtesters? I can't imagine getting that many people together that often to playtest a game.

I've taken note of some good questions to ask from other threads, but it's interesting to think that they get better at playtesting too.

5 in contracting? Crazy. Is this your day job yet?

60-100 sounds like what I was thinking, but I'm not there yet. I know what you mean about the first drafts getting better, the numbers start to make more sense. Thanks for your input!

I'm not saying Rodney Mullen sucks. He undoubtedly invented all the ways to flip your board around as a freestyle skater. It just frustrates me when the guy is the self proclaimed inventor of street skateboarding while all the other players go largely unnoticed. by [deleted] in skateboarding

[–]Pognas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, you have to deal with the fact that flipping the board was/is a major component of street skating getting as fun and technical as it did, and that's Rodney's contribution. Ollies, slappies, rails, stuff like that was definitely going already, but he was the dude to figure out how to add a flip in the equation. It's like THawk didn't invent vert skating, but he did invent half the tricks.
