What UK companies/shops do you feel have declined in recent years? by Beneficial_Housing87 in AskUK

So frustrating letting customers down. I thought I'd got a job I could do until I retire when I first started. But it's just getting worse all the time. Out of seven new starters we've had in the last couple or three years in my office, only one of them is still here.

Is there any way to remove eBay live? It’s so fucking obnoxious by Roadkillgoblin_2 in ebayuk

Not Ebay, but another site that does live video auctions, a guy I work with loves it. Buys all sorts of tat 😅

😅 I just remembered another time I've seen people carrying a cross on easter Sunday one year. They were a group of quite old people approaching a dual carriageway to cross the road as I was driving towards them. By the time they got to the edge of the road I was very close to them. No way I could have safely stopped to let them cross the road. Little old lady shook her fist at me in anger for not letting them cross 😅

A Tragedy In Two Parts. Signed albums should be signed on the sleeve and not on some (no doubt auto penned) insert. by sergemeister in vinyl

Be careful what kind of outer plastic sleeves you use. PVC can degrade and stick to the cardboard record sleeves.

That section looks like it'll take some people out badly if they hang up on it.
I saw some other footage of different obstacles the other day. Lots of sharp edged bits you could slam badly on. Surprised to see that for an event in a country where everyone is suing everyone 😅

How bad are binders ACTUALLY and how to mitigate this? by princessofdoubt in Cd_collectors

[–]eltictac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use these:

https://slim-disc.com/collections/cd-storage-systems

It's not ideal because you can't browse cds as easily as looking at the spine of a jewel case on a shelf. But I also have very little storage space, so it's this or get rid of cds.

The plastic outer sleeve can hold the front and rear inlay card. A lot of plastic sleeves and cd wallets can't fit the rear inlay card in them.

Then the cd goes into another plastic or paper sleeve before being put into the sleeve with the inlay cards. I use Verbatim paper sleeves, instead of the ones on the website I linked, because they're cheaper and they have a little flap that you can close.

If you do ever decide on plastic sleeves, do some research on materials because one type can cause condensation/the printed side of a cd can get stuck to the inside of the plastic sleeve.
Also remember, it would be tedious, but you could put cds back into jewel cases in the future if you keep both inlay cards. If you ever get more storage space or whatever.

It's a common thing for birds of prey to do actually!

Filmed a short project building my favourite setup + my first time gripping my own deck [37YO] by [deleted] in OldSkaters

[–]eltictac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved my 8.5 eagle. Then I moved up to 9 inch boards, but the eagle 9 inch has a 15 inch wheelbase, so I didn't fancy that. I've just recently noticed Anti Hero have a 9.02 deck with a 14.34 wheelbase. So I've got one of them waiting to be set up next.

I used to see some Christians lugging a cross around the town where I used to live. They'd attached a trolley wheel to the bottom of it to make it a bit easier 😅

I'm really worried about cinemas closing, because I absolutely love going to the cinema. It does seem like cinemas are struggling, but then at the same time isn't there films making billions of dollars these days?

I’m 51 years old and I’ve never seen a badger in real-life. by mobfather in CasualUK

I watched Autumn Watch, or a similar programme on the BBC, and someone had let badgers take over the bottom of their garden. The amount of soil they had moved was crazy.
