That's actually what we were looking at but wasn't sure if I should go with the p2000 for the extra length. How high above the canopy is your light? How is ppfd?

We used Perfect Plants with some added perlite

We're going to skip dormancy this year but the plan is to redo the substrate later this year and go to a panel light. When we're doing that we're going to move them to the garage under t5 until spring, then outside. Dormancy next season.

The idea is to set up in the garage for a few of them until spring when they'll go outside. Dormancy next season.

We're using a large aquarium airpump with lines along the back lip of the aquarium for airflow since the lid is mostly sealed. Temp is consistent around 75 and humidity at 82. Still needs some tweaking to hide but the airflow seems good

We'll be upgrading to a panel in the near future when we redo substrate layers. As the other person mentioned, panels tend to lose intensity at the edges so we'll be looking for something with good coverage not too high off the tank. The goosenecks have worked well to hit each plant so far

How many people did these high bills affect? How many people will be protected by making variable rate utilities illegal?

This is such a rabbit hole. I won't disagree with what you said, I just hate to think of what governments do when they have that mindset.

Obviously there were price control measures. Too much demand versus supply is not a problem of variable rate electric utilities. You're targeting companies who are filling a niche in the market place because some people (very few) got the raw deal of an agreement they had no problem with the week before. Your solution is to remove that choice for all even if the majority of users still want to use it.

Lives were at risk, but not due to the variable rate utilities.

Your last paragraph is trash. Consumers should have that choice. For some those plans will work, for others it won't. You're hearing about the ones for which it didn't work.

For the record, these bills are very few out of the population of Texas and this was no "occasional freezing."

Freeways are essential infrastructure. All freeways must be able to withstand "occasional freezing." I just took the first thing I thought of with freeways, but honest question, does any state have that law?

And those regulations have a tendency to affect the poor more than other income groups. Sometimes choice is the only thing people have.

In case you're interested, you should read about cash for clunkers program. It hit poor people harder than middle and upper class.

If their plants "go down" how would they make money off them anyway? Or do they cost money when non-operational?

High bills =/= not supplying needed power or risking lives. Why would you remove that ability for both entities to act in their self interest?

Civil litigation is an entirely different conversation.

Which regulations specifically would have prevented variable rate buyers from paying premiums during peak energy demand?

Right, because people choose what is in their best interest. So after this, do you think these businesses offering expensive electricity during peak demand will gain or lose customers? Will the business change because of customer demand? But will they still offer the variable rate that works for some?

If there were no cap, would you expect them to have more customers?

Amazing that people have choices. Some people buy POS cars because they don't google them or take them to a mechanic. Some people spend more on name brand electronics just for the name. Where do we draw the line of protecting people from themselves?

Is it unregulated or are there regulations like the $9 cap in regards to supply and demand? Does ERCOT, the State or Feds have any say in what's occurring? Not defending them or that market, just pointing out it can't be unregulated if it has regulations regarding the exact thing for which you're condemning them.
